| Who are WE The
Bloobirds were established
more than 27 years ago and was one of the first clubs to join the BMFA as you can see by
our club number (27). We still have some of the founding members actively flying today.
We are an informal club dedicated to the pleasure and
enjoyment of our hobby. Rules and regulations are kept to a minimum whilst ensuring safety
standards and enviromental considerations are maintained.
Over the years our membership numbers has varied from 75
to as few as 12, usually a reflection of the flying field facilities (or lack of them) and
there has been quite a variation. We are currently small in number with just 15 members
but this has the benefits of being able to assign a different frequency for each member
and avoids the need for a flight booking system. This also permits unlimited engine and
system checks in the pit area without the fear of causing interference to others but we
still limit the number of aircraft in flight to a maximum of four.
We have just (April 1999) occupied a new air strip on a
long term agreement. Whilst at the moment it's a little uneven, the coming season (2000) should see a great improvement, hopefully encouraging the more
advanced aircraft to be brought out of moth balls.
Where are We?
Nearest Town: Deal, Kent.
Our flying field is located close to the East Kent coast
(north of Dover, west of Deal). See Map below,
