Carpenter, Scott Astronaut One of the original Mercury astronauts, Carpenter flew on Mercury 7 and was the second American to orbit the Earth.
Conrad, Pete Astronaut Pete was the third man to step onto the Moon, crying "Whoopee!" as he did so. He later commanded Skylab 1, which repaired that damaged station. He was killed in a motorcycle accident in July 1999.
Cooper, Gordo Astronaut In 1963, Cooper became the first American to spend more than a day in space, aboard Mercury 9.
