AmigaONE Soon!!!

Years of waiting for a new Amiga are finally almost over! The AmigaOne will be huge step to bring the Amiga back as a real competitive computer. Finally getting access to new technology like PCI, USB, Firewire and evolving to true PPC support and next generation graphic cards.

The new AmigaONE is being designed by 3rd party companies mainly Eyetech. The AmigaONE 1200 & 4000 motherboards by Eyetech are 6XPCI + 1xAGP standalone G3/G4 boards capable of running the new Amiga OS 4.x+ and the AmigaDE. These boards will be designed to fit in a Z4-busboard-compatible A1200 tower and Eyetech/Elbox/Power A4000 towers. However both AmigaOne boards can optionally connect to the appropriate Amiga Motherboard for access to classic Amiga chipset hardware. In this mode - because it has access to all the classic Amiga custom chip - the AmigaOne 1200/4000 can also be used to run the classic AmgaOS and Software with a very high degree of compatibility.

Its important to note that the A1200/A4000 computer now reside on the AmigaOne board having direct high-speed access to all the AmigaOne`s PCI/AGP peripherals, and only accessing the existing A1200/A4000 chipset (via the A1200 edge connector or the A4000 CPU connector) as and when required. Any existing 680X0 or PPC accelerator is made entirely redundant, it function being carried out by the AmigaOne`s G3/G4 CPU and memory. For this reason a pass-though accelerator a lot on either the A1200 or A4000 version of the AmigaOne is completely pointless and there fore not included. As well as fitting a Z4-compatible tower, the AmigaOne 1200 will also fit into a standard ATX tower case using an optional fitting kit. This makes an ideal solution for applications / operating system that do not require the original AA chipset to be present.

Beautiful models
You will have a choice of specification for the Amiga One you could equip it with an G4 800MHz PPC with DVD-R/CD-RW and G550 gfx card. Or just a low G3 200Mhz PPC with cd-rom and G400 gfx card. Or you could just buy the mother board, its your choice.

A far future?
AmigaNG has bought you a glimpse of the kind of things the AmigaOne will have when it finally is complete and the type of web site it might have, this was really just something I made to impressive my friends, as they like the kid of lay out of the Apple site and how they described there products, I have done my best to recreate that felling with out breaking copyright issue. Hopefully one day (March 2002??) we will finally get to see, buy and use new Amigas!! And get a better official web site for it!
