The stories are located in several parts of the world. First of all there is, of course, good old England. Lara's home base is the Croft mansion in the county Surrey, somewhere between the town of Guildford and the hamlet of West Clandon. This is the place where Lara returns after each breath-taking adventure to recover and make plans for new enterprises. Besides Lara's treasure chamber it also boasts an excellent wine cellar.
One of Lara's favourite areas of exploration appears to be Peru. We will find her in the mysterious region of the Sierra de Vilcabamba and later on in the city of Arequipa and its surroundings.
Another playground in the New World is the lonely and wild landscape of Wilson and Grey Mesa in the south-west corner of the United States. This area is believed by some to be the site of Aztlán, the mythical homeland of the Aztecs. It appears, however, to be extremely well-guarded.
A "must" for any archaeologist is of course the ancient realm of Egypt. In the southern region of Lower Nubia not only the remnants of the distant past are waiting to be discovered but also some mysteries of the present will call up Lara's attention.
