The Jamono Africa Ballet

This Senegalese traditional drum and dance group are something else . Formed by Bubba Keita and friends in Dakar Senegal . Some of the members are former Senegalese National Ballet performers . All of the members come from the Ghettos and poor areas of Dakar . The trainer of the National ballet , who is a friend of Bubba gives up his time everyday to train them . I spent a week living with these young men and women and was truly inspired by their generosity , hard work and a lust for life which has to be experienced . The highlight of my stay was being able to sit in on drum jamming sessions . They are ARTISTS.
