A shop on the way to Paul Jallow's family compound in Tanji, a fishing village on the coast.
Paul Jallow's family compound is probably the same now as it was hundreds of years ago. There is no electricity , or modern amenities and the water is drawn from a well . Paul is a very traditional African through choice and is a big believer in the extended family system . At the shop I was able to practice my "Wolof" which is the main African language in Senegal and Gambia, like most people in the rural areas the shop keeper did not speak English . In the larger towns many people speak some English .
