On 7th November 1928 at the ROOSEVELT HOTEL in LOS ANGELES, on the borders of Hollywood, the First Academy Awards ceremony
was held by the recently formed Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.
This original signed photo is from an album of signed photographs from the first 'Oscars'. The large brown suede album contained
37 photos of many legends like Clara Bow, Lon Chaney Snr, Charles Chaplin, Norma Shearer, Gloria Swanson, Harold Lloyd, Tom
Mix, and so the list continues. The albums were presented to the British Journalists on visiting the Academy Awards. This
particular one of John was signed for F. LAWRENCE JOHNSON. |
