Week 4 - Game 2: Frankfurt @ Amsterdam

Sunday

After a civilised breakfast watching the highlights of the Fire game we were joined by Sandra, a Galaxy fan, and started the car journey to Amsterdam. We arrived about an hour before kickoff so after quick intros with the Triple A and gaining of season tickets we headed straight into the stadium.

If you want to read about the game, click here.

Proof that we do go to games!

Markus encourages the next generation of fans. Will they support Amsterdam or Rhein?

Niki and his new girlfriend.

After the very exiting game it was off to the new fan hangout Cocos, where the Triple A had been getting their NFL fix. We were joined by two lovely Galaxy fans and just drank quietly and swapped stories (it was Sunday night after all).

Michael Churchill joined us, he had been on the big screen 3 or 4 times and we all ribbed him because he had been in exactly the same pose (see Exhibit A). The food in this bar was big (see Exhibits B and C).

Most of the Triple A faded out as they had to work the next day so the two Galaxy fans, Ian, Michael, John & Montse just had a couple of final beers at L&K on the way to the hotels. Needless to say the Galaxy girls who had been to Barcelona before were soon signed up to their first trip to Sitges in ‘Week 12’. At around midnight it was time to draw a halt to the weekend and all that remained for Ian was to get back to Düsseldorf on Monday morning for his flight home.

Final score: Frankfurt Galaxy 17 - 21 Amsterdam Admirals

This week we are raising a beer to Roy, both for letting Ian share his room and for sportingly continuing despite playing injured, to Sonja & Michael for the accommodation and transport, and to the First Down fanclub for welcoming everyone so warmly to Cologne. See you in Week 8!
