The veil began to move

CONTINUES FROM SPECTRUM 3

They had established that the events had begun in the car, when Raphel had thrown the magazine onto the floor. Also that there was a link with something that was being broadcast over the cars radio at that time.

Adam drew even further into himself. The veil began to move. He remembered.

A religious broadcast. A preacher had been quoting from the Bible, from the book of Genesis.

‘As the river issued out of Eden to water the garden it divided as it were into four heads.’ What he had unconsciously heard, now connected instantly with what he had seen, the magazine cover. The circle with the four spiralling arrows representing the four fundamental forces of nature emerging from the initial singularity. Both the magazine cover and the excerpt from genesis were referring to the same thing. The scientific viewpoint with its four forces, four flows issuing from a single point. And the biblical interpretation, which described the same thing, four forces, four rivers issuing from Eden, a single source. The four rivers watering the garden, which in itself must be a metaphor for the universe he realised. Things do after all grow in both.

If he was correct in this, then the author of the book of Genesis had somehow had access to information about the universe and its workings thousands of years before science.

He had paid only scant attention to the Bible in his early years, but as he grew and changed, not just the Bible but many ancient writings had taken his interest. He wondered now if there was anything more that was hidden in the language of a different age.

Then he remembered another oddity about the conversation in the car. Raphel had said something about radiation making things hot. At the time Adam had thought he had been talking about the weather. But just before Raphel had spoken he remembered that the preacher had referred to a fiery sword that turns in all directions, as to how it guarded the gateway to Eden. Adam now realised what this fiery sword was referring to. Radiation. The fiery sword, heat death. Radiation. But his mistake in thinking Raphel had been talking about the weather may not have been a mistake. ‘Radiation makes things hot’ Raphel had said. The only natural source of radiation that equates to death he realised. Is the sun.

Teryl was still struggling to understand how Raphel had managed to bring them here. "I still don’t understand how we can travel through time" She said.

"Time zero is inside your head" Raphel replied. "It is all a matter of your point of view. Everything you perceive, a star exploding, the light illuminating a friend or the message the eye sends. It all takes time to get to you, the ‘now’, the point of perception. To you, everything is the past. Everything you perceive has all already happened."

"Because it takes light time to travel to the eye" she offered.

"Yes" he replied. "This fact renders all events, close or far, past events."

She thought for a moment. "Going on that" she then said. "The only person I can say that actually exists now, in what you might call reality, is me!"

Raphel nodded. "A paradox" he stated. "You all share this state. Many universes within one."

She found this lack of common reality was quite a shock once realised. You can never see what’s happening, only what has happened. Each of us, isolated in now, a reality from which we view only the past, an unreality. A creation. Break that creation down into the smallest possible pieces and each of these pieces will be one of these paradoxical commonly experiencing flows.

"Many universes contained within one" she repeated to herself

"Indeed" Raphel replied. "The universe is made up of an uncountable number of other universes. For the universe to be One it would have to have a common ‘now’. It does not, as Einstein revealed to you. Your now is another’s past or future. Each of you represents a point of perception that is now, reality, perceiving only the past, an unreality. The future when it reaches you is the past made present."

"In temporal terms" he continued. "Everywhere in the universe is the centre of the universe. And because space and time are linked, every location is the centre. You are already everywhere and everywhen."

"The Mars that I have taken us to as you put it exists as distance, although the term distance is not fully adequate. This distance exists there" he said, indicating her head. "And that is where this distance is overcome."

The sun was halfway across its daily journey, its light filtering down though the strange Martian vegetation, illuminating the remnants of the dawn fog.

They had reached the base of the rift about two hours ago as far as Teryl could tell. They were walking now along what had obviously once been a road, a natural corridor surrounded by a silent forest that was tempting them with the occasional view of the pyramids through its leafy covering.

Teryl was far from these surroundings. She had been thinking about what Raphel had said earlier about the universe taking form on the screen of consciousness.

He had said that the future is the past made present.

She found the concept slightly disturbing. It meant that you cannot avoid the things that happen to you because in effect they have already happened, implying that you have no choice in how your life unfolds.

Had she ever really had a choice about what she would do with her life. At the end of the day she realised it had always come down to doing the things that she had wanted to do. Been compelled to do. Justifying this with the words, ‘this is what I want to do.’ A statement that according to what Raphel had said should read, ‘I do this because I have no choice.’

You die and are born, experiencing the events that lead to your death. A silent witness who can only watch.

Adam was still in his own internal world, attempting to piece together the cosmic jigsaw puzzle he had been given.

From what he was now calling the Genesis broadcast, he suspected first, that the four rivers issuing from Eden equated to the four fundamental forces: Gravity, strong, weak and electromagnetic. Secondly, that the fiery sword was a metaphor used to describe the radiation being emitted by the sun.

None of this had helped however. He was still failing to comprehend. All that he had learned from understanding these sections of Genesis was what science had also noted. Was there another level of realisation, of awareness. One he had not yet accessed. One that would allow him to weave these strands of knowledge together and as a result comprehend the bigger picture?

The next event had been after they had discovered the anomaly in the dinosaur DNA. He had been staring at an oscilloscope, at a sine wave tracing over the screen. Again, he was sure it was meant to be telling him something. But what?

He pictured it in his head.

Again, the answer revealed itself to him. The famous Yin Yang symbol, the symmetrically curving line within a circular boundary. He continued to focus on the image. He sensed something approaching. Suddenly images began to flash infront of his minds eye. The Earth as seen from orbit. It quickly became transparent, surface features vanishing to reveal the magma on which the crust floated. This remained only for afew seconds before the iron core itself was exposed. Finally it too disappeared, leaving only a black disc surrounded by a sea of stars.

An energy wave appeared within this black disc, curving across the disc as the sine wave had travelled across the oscilloscope screen. The Earth had been transformed into the Yin Yang symbol.

The image changed again. A second wave appeared, this one 180 degrees opposite to the first. As he watched he realised that both waves were infact spinning, pulsing every time they reached their start positions. They must have been out of tune as there was a slight blurring that allowed him to detect the movement.

Moments later they came fully into harmony.

At that point bands of multi coloured light came into being between the two stationary waves. Adam felt as if he was looking at a strand of DNA.

Where were the two opposing energy waves originating from he wondered. He tracked them to their origin. They described a line that led directly into the heart of the sun.

The event ended.

Awareness of his surroundings returned. He was standing still. Raphel and Teryl had caught up with him.

"You have something to tell us" Raphel asked.

He described what he had seen.

"It looked like DNA double helix" he finished.

"The Earths Geo-geneticode" Raphel stated.

Adam nodded as the understanding of what he had seen came to him.

"The two energy waves contain the code for the planets form" Raphel explained. "The placing of the sun, all stellar bodies and their associated planets is determined by a universal code. This universal code contains the codes for all other manifestations within it. For all galactic bodies which in turn contain the codes for every star within that galaxy. The stellar codes contain the codes for all spacial bodies within their spheres of influence. The end of the chain being you."

Teryl’s head was spinning as she attempted to understand. A universal code containing the uncountable stellar codes that contain an even greater number of planetary codes

"The universe sings the galaxies, a galaxy sings the stars, a star sings its planets and the planets sings all forms upon them" she said.

"And we try to hear the music" Raphel finished.

"Of course" Adam said to himself. "Radiation from the sun causes the genetic mutations that supposedly drive evolution forwards. But what we recognise as random radiation, is infact an ordered code that mutates DNA in its image. As the code changes so the planet and the life upon it changes. Evolves."

Adam looked up at the pyramids. Drawing inside himself again. he turned away and continued along the road.

Teryl and Raphel followed.

It had become dark and they had settled down for the night on the outskirts of the city. They would enter it in the morning.

Adam was still isolated in his own internal experience. He had wandered off shortly after they had stopped and was standing now at the edge of a clearing that was to be their sanctuary for the night. He was staring at one of the pyramids.

Only the tip with the eye was still illuminated by the last rays of the setting sun. The main bulk of the structure stood out in stark black contrast, vast and apparently depthless.

He wondered about the ancient Egyptians, as to their beliefs about the purpose of a pyramid, a cosmic boat to transport the energy of the soul to the next incarnation. In this they had been right. But what was obvious now, was that they had not been the initiators of pyramid building on earth. Their level of understanding would have been enough for them to grasp the mathematical information and emulate what they had seen in stone. But the question was, where had they seen a pyramid in the first place?

It could only have been the Pure Line he realised. Pyramids they must have built. Left behind as they were forced into more remote areas by the encroachment of Humanity.

The sun had set fully now and the moon had risen. In its light he could see the eye carved into the side of the colossal structure. It stared down at him. Silent perception.

He found himself recalling his conclusions as to what a pyramids shape represented, that it was a model of the boundaries of consciousness, of the whole universe and anything in it. Also that the eye was meant to represent perception, conscious perception. He suddenly remembered something from years ago. He had been at the cinema watching one of Hollywood’s last ever productions when he’d realised what it had meant in that the images on the screen were moving at the same rate as the world around him. This of course was obvious. What he’d realised at the time though was that the images on the screen were being projected at a rate that gave the illusion the action was taking place at what a person would determine to be the correct speed. A speed or frequency of reality. One he now realised our conscious perception must be tuned to.

He stopped, remembering another quote from the Bible, from the book of revelations. ‘Let one who has intelligence calculate the number of the beast, for it is a man’s number and its number is 666....’ Did this number somehow denote the frequency humanities perception was tuned to?

But 666 is also the number of the beast. And the beast is a metaphor used to represent the powers of evil. He was confused. Was man the beast, or was the beast a separate entity that humanity emulated? Or could it somehow be both? If the body forced the consciousness to perceive at a certain frequency, then the body could be said to be the beast. But if the body, which is made of elements, atoms, is the beast. Then the whole of the universe, the whole of nature is the beast. He considered. Nature demands certain things of us, that we eat, protect ourselves from others and the elements and that we reproduce. How selfish these demands would make any sentient lifeform he thought. Nature in our faces all of the time, a permanent distraction that forces us to take from all around us&ldots;&ldots;&ldots;.

He was beginning to see the universe in a new light.

Teryl had lain down on the soft ground and attempted to sleep. Instead she had found herself considering Adams claims to have experienced a past life. The fact that he had somehow known they were on Mars even though the presence of an atmosphere denied this could be explained by his knowledge of the theories that Mars used to be habitable. And as to the pyramids, he had seen them on the surface before he had returned to Earth.

Its not that she doubted him. It was just that she was going to need proof before she could accept both the experience as real and the implications it carried with it.

She found herself wondering about the sarcophagus, the object that had apparently sent him into his past.

She looked at him. He was standing at the edge of the clearing, staring at one of the three pyramids that towered above them. She got up and walked over to him.

"Adam?"

He turned. She was standing behind him. He smiled reassuringly.

"Are you okay?" she inquired.

"Yes" he replied.

"I’m curious" she said. "I was wondering about the sarcophagus. Can you describe it to me."

He took a moment, recalling the image. "It looked alot like the examples I’ve seen of the Egyptian form" he said. "The controls on the inside however were like nothing on Earth. Literally. This combined my experience indicates that the J’Agannath could send the souls of their dead into a future life. One chosen by them."

"But why then didn’t it send you into a future life?" she asked.

"Because I was alive I guess" he replied. "Presumably the J’Agannath using it would be either dead or close to death. Sensing that I was alive the machine may have had no choice but to send me to a past life."

"Perhaps thats another function of the machine" She offered. "If you used it while still alive, you would be able to harvest everything you had learned in previous lives. You would have access to a vast store of knowledge in effect."

"What I experienced supports that" he said. "Even though I was in a Neanderthal body, I was still aware of my present identity. I was perceiving the experiences that past life was having. Not having them directly."

"To the J’Agannath it must seem as if they are immortal" Teryl added. "Potentially living as long as the universe exists."

They turned and began to walk back to the clearing.

"Yes" Adam replied. "But what price do you pay for immortality."

Sleep still evaded Teryl. She had found herself wondering at the implications of the J’Agannaths technical abilities.

If they could do as Adam had suggested and choose the destination of their souls after death, it would be in direct defiance of the laws of karma.

And what of the soul, she was ready to believe that this spiritual element existed. But, as with god, what proof is there of its existence? It was the age old question. How to prove the existence of something you cannot detect?

Adam of course has proof. But why hadn’t he mentioned the obvious implication to her. That his experience, to him atleast, had proved the existence of the soul? He must believe because he knows. But of course he couldn’t prove this to her. She could only be asked to believe.

She wondered at this. Was it the weakness of so many religions that someone with a belief thinks that if they gather enough people around them who also believe, that they themselves will somehow go one step further and know through experience.

She had been so deep in thought that she had not noticed that the proof for Adams claims was hanging in the sky just above the horizon. It was a moon. Just as Adam had described, slightly smaller than Earths, with three craters in a rough triangle.

She sat up slowly. This was it.

In their time Mars had two small asteroidal moons called Phobos and Deimos. This single, much larger moon had been hidden behind the planet until now. The only way Adam could have known of its existence was if he had been here before, thousands of years in the past, where they were now. Before they had met Raphel, the only way he could have done so would have been as he had described.

It seemed they now had proof of the existence of something beyond the body. Of soul.

They woke the next morning to find Raphel no-where in sight.

"I think I know where he is" Adam said after a cursory search of the immediate surroundings. He looked up at the pyramids.

"You think he’s gone in without us?" Teryl asked.

"No" Adam replied. "I think he’s preparing the way."

They left the clearing and headed towards the closest pyramid.

They found him standing infront of the pyramid about halfway along its base. A slab had been removed and they could see the interior corridor illuminated by the early morning light.

"I have made things ready for you " Raphel said as they reached him.

"So we see" Adam replied, turning to examine the entrance.

He looked at Teryl. "Shall we?"

She nodded and stepped inside.

Adam took a final look at Raphel who was smiling expectantly and then followed her in.

Once again he was standing infront of the sarcophagus, the product of J’Agannath technology.

He moved forwards and pushed on the lid. As with the before it slid silently backwards.

"Nothing happened the first time until I reached inside. So we should be okay" he reassured her.

Teryl moved forwards, cautiously peered inside and made a cursory examination of the interior.

Satisfied, she then moved away from the sarcophagus and began to examine the room itself, thinking as she did so.

Before they had finally fallen into sleep the night before, Adam had updated her as to the product of his thoughts from the previous day. Thoughts that had stayed with her until the void of sleep had taken her, thoughts that now resurfaced.

"I don’t understand" She said, breaking the silence. "What does a radiation code from the sun, the four fundamental forces and conscious perception have to do with an alien race manipulating DNA?"

Adam looked at her. "My question exactly."

She clasped her hands together under her chin. "So what do we know?" she said, more to herself than Adam. "We now know that the codes for the planets and the forms upon them originate from the universe through the galaxies and then the stars, the sun in our case." She stopped, letting her hands drop away from her face.

"Oh!"

He looked at her expectantly.

"Were making an assumption here" she said.

"Whats that?" he asked.

"We’ve been assuming that the DNA anomaly we found indicated alien intervention" she stated. "An assumption confirmed by what we’ve just learned about the J’Agannaths activities here and on earth. But what if it’s not. What if the anomaly is linked to the coded operation of the universe that Raphel has described."

Adam looked at her. "Then the extinction of the dinosaurs represents a change in the code."

"A massive change" she added. "But why?"

"You’ve already said it" he replied. "We evolved to fill the gap in the chain of life left by the dinosaurs."

"And we evolved from the Cains, the Pure Line and from the Abels" she said.

"Who came from Adam and Eve" he added.

"And Adam and Eve originated from Eden" she continued. "A place they were prevented from re-entering by a fiery sword. What we now know to be the radiation code being emitted by the sun. A code that manifested them, banished them onto the earth."

"And they, now we, are forced to be here as long as the code is still being emitted" he said.

"Emitted from where?" she asked.

"Eden" he replied.

"And where’s that."

He shrugged his shoulders. "Beyond the sun portal?"

They stared at each other, their faces filled with wonder.

"Clearly our understanding of the Adam and Eve story is extremely limited" She said after a moment.

They fell silent. Both of them realising that this did indeed go further than the genetic interventions of the J’Agannath.

"Do you remember I said this was going to be intense?" he asked.

"Yes" she replied.

"Add the word Very."

Raphel was waiting for them just outside the entrance. Adam was just about to speak when the light took them again.

When the energy womb unfolded they found themselves high in orbit above the Earth.

The planet floated beneath them, a beautiful blue sphere.

Adam was thinking about Eden, genetic anomalies and universal codes.

As he had understood it, the universe acted as a carrier wave for the galactic, stellar and planetary signals. He couldn’t fail to see the similarity between this and amplitude modulation where a carrier wave takes the signal to the receiver where it is displayed as either sound or picture. The carrier wave itself is not displayed but without it, the signal cannot be transmitted or received.

Something occurred to him as Raphel began to speak again. What if the universal carrier wave is not the carrier wave, but just another signal on an even greater carrier wave.

"Photonic light from the sun illuminates the physical image of the Earth" Raphel was saying. "This image proceeds out to the limits of the universe from where the energy is returned as an image of the cosmos, the past. The answer to all your questions is spread out between here and that limit... Out there, sixty six million light years away the dinosaurs are still dying out."

The energy womb encompassed them once again. When it passed away they found themselves standing on a cliff top above a heavily forested valley.

"The genetic anomaly" Adam guessed.

"Correct" Raphel replied. "The answer to your question. Sixty five million years before you were born an event took place here on Earth."

There was a flash of light and the whole sky turned white.

"The host. The source of the transmission you monitor. It carries the essence of the first couple, distilled over time from the universe" Raphel informed them.

They walked to the edge of the cliff.

Sounds of panic could be heard coming from the creatures hidden in the forest below. Suddenly the head of one of the terrified animals appeared from the edge of the trees. It darted forward and attempted a fruitless ascent of the cliff face.

Moments later the light covered everything, washing it out in a glorious white glow.

"The Earths geo-code is being altered" Raphel said. "The DNA of every form on the planet is being altered with it."

Teryl was appalled, "Millions of years of life just erased" she exclaimed.

"No" Raphel replied. "Remember, time is only relevant from your point of view. Millions of years of events look that way because of where your viewing it from. It could equally have taken place in a second. And as for the life that had been the dinosaurs, not erased, just changed. The dinosaurs are still there, only competing with humanity on a much smaller scale."

The light faded and retreated into the Earth. Normality returned. Only the bellowing of the creatures below betrayed the events that had just taken place.

"You understand now that the J’Agannath were not responsible for what you have just seen" Raphel stated.

"We do" Teryl replied. "The genetic alteration had nothing to do with technology. The anomaly is infact a reflection of the fundamental operation of the universe."

Raphel looked out over the valley to the mountains beyond. "The soul essence of the first couple will wait now for their physical expressions to evolve so that they may become active on the face of the Earth.

"The first couple" Adam said. "You’re talking about Adam and Eve."

"Yes" Raphel replied before continuing their historical education. "They had been seduced into error by a power that could now exercise control over them because of their physical forms. They were extremely long lived and obeyed the laws of nature that had them in its grasp. They became fruitful, multiplied and had two offspring."

"Your people and the Pure Line" Teryl stated.

"Full circle" Adam added.

All of world history made sense to him now. Nothing had been as it had seemed. The Pure Line, the tribe of Cain, guiding as Garrick had told them, like a ghost, an unholy ghost in the machine. Of course they now knew that it wasn’t the Line who were ultimately responsible for Humanities fate, the J’Agannath had been guiding them as they guided us, for aeons towards an as yet unknown end.

He looked down at the valley.

Even though the initial noise created by the panicking creatures had receded, the occasional sound could still be heard rising up from the forest below. Sounds of an evolutionary farewell.

Could we be about to make a similar exit he wondered fearfully.

He looked up into the sky. The sun was setting and the brightest stars were starting to appear in the pristine atmosphere. He couldn’t decide whether what was happening was to be Armageddon or revelation.

Raphel transported them again.

They were above the planet again. It was surrounded by J’Agannath ships.

"This is the future" Raphel said. "Only months after we left the lake shore. They have come to collect on the contract."

Suddenly they found themselves in a huge underground cavern, spheroid in shape and hundreds of metres across.

It was dimly lit, but they could not fail to see the decks that filled the space, about fifty of them from floor to ceiling. They could also see the thousands of autopsy style tables that were resting on these decks. Each bed was occupied by a human figure.

"Oh my god Adam!" Teryl said, moving closer to him.

She looked around, deeper into the cavern.

Her eyes had adjusted to the low light levels and in the distance she could just make out figures moving around between the tables. They were not human.

"Adam!" she hissed.

"I know. I can see them" he replied quietly.

"We are safe" Raphel assured them. "They cannot see us."

"Adam!" Teryl said suddenly. "The plasma lens. The program Garrick told us about. Its been activated."

"Each day" Raphel said. "Thousands upon thousands are delivering themselves to underground bases like these all over the world. Each of these people here and the ones that are on their way here perceive themselves as going about their daily affairs as normal. This is infact an internal projection, imagined by them and the sub-conscious program. The reality as you can see is very different."

Teryl looked down at the table nearest to them. There was a young boy lying on it. He couldn’t have been more than fifteen. His face anguished by a scar that ran across one cheek then up over his nose to the opposite brow.

There was a sudden rush of activity all around them. The figures that up until now had been still were moving. People were getting off the tables and beginning to make their way towards one end of the cavern.

"Where are they going?" Teryl asked, uncertain if she wanted to hear the answer

"They are delivering themselves" Raphel replied flatly.

"Come on" Adam said, moving to follow.

Teryl jumped after him.

She looked about. The people around her were like zombies. Their eyes were open and blinking. But they saw nothing.

Nearly all of the caverns unaware occupants were up and moving now.

They were surrounded by a crowd which seemed completely unaware of where they were and what they were doing. Each of them melded with their own internal truth that they believed.

"Have you looked at the cavern?" Adam asked.

"Pardon" she said.

"The cavern" he repeated.

"You mean its spherical shape?" she offered.

"Not just that" he said. "Look at the walls."

She did as he instructed. They were getting closer to one end of the cavern and she could see the wall quite clearly. It was glass.

"This has been formed by an underground nuclear blast" she said.

Raphel who had been silent for some time spoke up. "The J’Agannath require this radioactive environment to complete their task."

"What are they going to do?" Teryl asked, anxious suspicion toning her voice.

"You will see" Raphel replied without looking at her.

Adam sniffed the air. "Do you smell that?" he asked.

"What?" she replied, the word shooting out of her mouth.

"The air, its charged."

She took a sniff of air. It was indeed filled with the faint metallic odour of ozone.

They were close enough to the wall now of to see a tunnel leading out of the cavern. The people ahead of them were beginning to funnel into it.

"Whats happening Raphel?" Adam insisted.

Raphel remained silent.

A moment later they entered the tunnel.

The odour of electrically charged air became stronger and they could hear and feel a strange humming sound that as with the odour, grew in intensity the further they proceeded.

The tunnel bent to the left just ahead of them. Both Adam and Teryl were becoming increasingly uneasy. They both felt instinctively that what they were about to see may be more than either of them could handle.

"Raphel!" Adam shouted, panic rising in his voice.

They rounded the corner.

What presented itself to them was at first uncertain. There was a swirling mass of boiling red energy, a vortex of some kind. The sound coming from it was horrific. Like screams of agony, one after the other in an unending flow.

Teryl suddenly realised where the sound was coming from. The people ahead of them were walking into the vortex, where they were being literally torn apart, hundreds of them at a time.

Adam too realised what was happening. "No" he screamed, throwing himself past the people infront of him, pushing them back as he did so.

"No" he screamed again. "Stop." Tears of rage and despair were running down his face.

Sudden disorientation took them. They were moving again.

They were above the Earth again.

Adam and Teryl were suffering deep distress at what they had just witnessed.

"Why did you stop me?" Adam asked, his voice agonised.

"You could not have saved them" Raphel replied. "Not that way."

"Then how?" Adam begged, the anger at what he had just witnessed twisted inside him.

"First we must break the programming of the J’Agannath" Raphel replied.

Adam looked down at the surface of the planet. They were above the North Pole.

"How do we do that?" he asked.

"By using the Plasma Lens" Teryl said.

Raphel nodded. "By taking you back to before now. Once there and placed in the Lens, you will cause it to resonate at a different frequency. One that will heal by de-activating the J’Agannath program."

They both looked at him, hope replacing despair.

The light surrounded them again.

CHAPTER ELEVEN

Jonar sat at the table. Alone this time, he watched the image of the planet surrounded by J’Agannath vessels relayed to his house from Earth-side.

The comm system called for his attention. "They’re here, they’re here" a panicked, terrified voice screamed.

Jonar reached over and activated the transceiver without taking his eyes from the Earth.

"I know they are here. I can see their ships" he stated impatiently.

"No. They’re here&ldots;." The voice stopped abruptly.

He looked away from the screen.

There was another sound he could not identify. Then he heard a woman scream. Realisation dawned on him.

He looked back to the screen. The J’Agannath ships were beginning to move away from the planet.

"Something’s wrong" he said to himself.

As if in response to this another voice came over the link. "Jonar?" The voice was low. Too low.

He jumped from the seat and ran towards the door.

Outside he looked around, desperately searching for his protector drone. It was no-where in sight. As he continued searching he became aware of the whine of an approaching craft. He realised for the first time in his life he was not in control.

He ran. No longer the dominant power.

He headed for a small wood that ran up to the edge of the transparent section of the habitat, the whine of the approaching craft becoming louder in his ears as he ran.

He reached the edge of the wood and threw himself into a hollow between two trees.

From where he was he could see the house clearly. A small craft landed next to it. He didn’t recognise the design but he was in no doubt as to the nature of its occupant.

The front top section moved away and a cloaked figure stepped out. The hood was up, obscuring the view of the individual’s face. It appeared to be examining a small device hidden in the palm of its hand. After a moment it turned and began walking towards his position.

He crawled a few metres deeper into the wood and then got up and began to run as fast as he could. He only managed a few strides when an unseen force knocked him down.

He had landed face down. He rolled onto his back.

The hooded figure had almost reached the edge of the trees and was coming straight towards him. He struggled to regain his feet but his legs refused to function. Left with only his arms he began to pull himself towards a gully off to his left.

"Jonar." The unnatural voice echoed around him. "What have you done Jonar." It was full of dissatisfaction.

He rolled over again to find his pursuer standing at his feet.

"What are you talking about" he demanded, the terror in his voice dismantling the last word.

"They are waking up and they have not yet begun to assemble at the alter " the creature said.

"I don’t understand.... How?" Jonar replied, still looking for somewhere to hide himself.

"How does not matter" it replied. "You have lost control Jonar. You have broken the contract. We are very displeased" the creature said. It seemed to be enjoying the moment.

"What are you going to do" Jonar stammered.

It was silent for a moment. Then it spoke. "We will take you and your people as payment for your failure."

"Noooooo" Jonar screamed.

He pulled a weapon from his jacket, levelled it at the figure and pulled the trigger. Nothing happened.

It began to laugh. "Did you think we would reveal all our knowledge to you.

Jonar pushed the barrel of the gun into his mouth and squeezed the trigger again. Still nothing happened.

It laughed even louder, throwing the hood off to reveal its face.

The last thing Jonar saw before he lost his mind was the demonic cat like face of the alien staring down at him.

"We can’t have the merchandise damaging itself can we" it said, making an unconvincing gesture of concern at Jonars mental demise...

Jonar lay immobile on the ground.

"Don’t worry" it mocked. "We can put your mind back together for you, we did it once before. Only this time there will no longer be any of you left."

*

Adam, Teryl and Raphel were still high above the planet, watching as the alien ships left orbit. One of them had disappeared behind the moon for a time. It reappeared now and rejoined the exodus.

"They are leaving" Raphel confirmed. "They have no choice, as you must sacrifice yourselves willingly.

The last of the craft were moving away now, shrinking rapidly as the distance between them and the Earth increased.

Suddenly the whole of space around them ignited with light. It focused quickly on the Earth, surrounding it like a protective womb.

"The change in the transmission you detected recently signalled the return of the light you now see all around us." Raphel informed them. "The light originates from the source. It will illuminate all negative influences both internal and external, allowing them to be dealt with and transmuted into their positive counterparts."

Adam and Teryl stared in wonder.

"Humanity is on the brink of a new evolutionary change. Not this time one of the physical, but a conscious evolution. A new Line is about to appear."

*

It had never happened before, the ship verified this as its drive failed. There

were no records of a drive unit ever doing so, it was unconcerned however, it would be recovered soon...

*

Time and place re-arranged once more and they found themselves standing by the lake again.

Raphel led them back towards the buildings at the edge of the beach.

Without warning the serene silence of the cavern was shattered by an explosion that almost knocked them to their knees.

They turned to see huge pieces of rock falling from the roof of the cavern. The first of the pieces hit the water sending up huge plumes of spray. The barrage continued as further explosions widened the gap.

Sunlight flooded in to be extinguished a moment later by the hull of a Cain vessel descending through the gap it had created for itself.

Adam and Teryl searched for cover but saw nothing that would protect them.

"Come." Raphel continued up the beach, seemingly unconcerned by the appearance of the deadly vessel.

After a moments hesitation they joined him.

The ship approached the beach and settled, the sand dancing violently under its hull.

Adam glanced at Raphel. He was looking at the buildings. Adam followed his gaze.

Garrick appeared from around the corner of one of the nearest dwellings. He seemed fully recovered from his earlier experience.

He approached them quickly. "It’s Janus" he said as he reached them. "He must have spoken to the Council. They would have instructed him to kill everyone.

"Can’t you stop him?" Teryl asked urgently.

"No. Not now" he replied.

Raphel still seemed unconcerned. "Let him do what he wants."

The three of them looked at him.

"Trust me. There is a point to this. One of us has something to do."

A group of ten heavily armed men had left the ship and were making their way towards them, they recognised the one in the lead, it was Janus. He seemed to be happy about something. He was smiling.

"You are no longer in command" he shouted, looking at Garrick. "You are all to die" he then said, addressing everyone present.

Garrick stepped forward. "Then why are you here?" he demanded.

‘There is someone I want to kill myself" Janus snarled.

"Who?"

"Her." His eyes settled on Teryl. "I saw what she did."

"You managed to play the recording of the mind probe I carried out on her" Garrick guessed.

"Yes" Janus replied, now visibly shaking.

"And what happened?" Garrick demanded.

"Madness" Janus screamed.

"Truth" Garrick shouted back. "You saw what you’ve done to others remembered your family" Garrick told him.

"Lies" Janus screamed.

"No" Garrick said firmly. "Truth. Truth you must accept.’

Janus raised his weapon and pointed it at Teryl’s chest.

Adam began to move but felt a hand on his arm that stopped him before he had even taken one step towards Janus.

"No." Raphel spoke gently in his mind.

Garrick had also moved. He had done so just as Janus had squeezed the trigger, stepping between Teryl and the death released by Janus.

The shell ripped into his chest and exploded. His body was dead before it hit the ground.

Although Janus had been looking forward to killing Garrick he had not intended for it to happen now. He hesitated. He had killed the man, who although he had hated, he loved too.

He learned. For the first time in his life he learned something of the Human condition. Love is whatever you have inside you.

Janus just stood there staring at the blood flowing from the ruptured chest cavity. Garrick’s dead eyes stared back at him.

He began to scream.

Janus ‘s escort looked to each other unsure of what to do. Their commander had apparently gone insane.

They pointed their weapons at the crowd. But none of them seemed to be able to pull the trigger, distracted by something.

Adam realised that their attention was being drawn to Garricks dead body.

He looked around.

Garricks body had begun to glow.

"It has begun" Raphel said. "His soul is being freed from the cage of the negative electron field" Raphel said. "His is the first liberated soul that will join the light. He has paid his price for his actions, giving his life to save another. He knew nothing of the birth that is about to occur. His selfless act was without any thought of reward."

The light formed slowly into a ball above Garricks body. It hesitated for a moment then began to ascend with increasing speed towards and then through the roof of the cavern.

The armed escort lowered their guns and placed them on the ground.

Janus had left with his men, carried onboard the ship by them.

Adam, Teryl and Raphel were standing alone again.

Teryl turned to him. "What did you mean when you said that his soul had been freed from the negative electron field?" she asked.

"This isn’t over yet. Is it" Adam stated.

He light came again

When the light vanished they were surrounded by a sea of boiling colours, reds, blues and purples that flowed and intermingled like liquid around them.

"We are protected from the energy you see around us" Raphel said. The universe in this state cannot support the existence of your atoms. We are at the limits of existence, moments after the universe came into being."

The newly born universe suddenly expanded, the vibrant colours fading as it increased in size.

They became disorientated as their brains, unable to distinguish between near and far flicked between the two extremes, searching for something to lock onto.

Adams knowledge of the early universe was fairly good. What they had just witnessed was the universe expanding more in that instant than it had done in the fifteen billion years since. To come he reminded himself.

He looked around. There was still nothing to see, no stars, just an immense sense of space.

Suddenly it was there. The energy state of the universe had dropped low enough for it to become transparent. There were still no stars, but he could see the first Hydrogen and Helium nebulae out of which they would form. They were dotted all around them, glowing in a deep blood red light.

Raphel began talking again. "Over generations stellar and planetary bodies will form out of the nebulae you see around us. Eventually life will appear"

Around them the first stars were being born, their blue light shining stark and bright against the blackness.

"What are you?" Raphel asked them quietly.

Adam and Teryl looked at each other, certain that none of the normal answers would fit this unexpected question.

"What is the universe made from" he then asked them.

"Atoms" Teryl answered.

"Yes. But what are atoms made from?" he asked again.

"Energy" Adam replied.

Raphel smiled. "You are correct. But this is not about the evolution of atoms or energy. From the moment of creation it has been about the struggle of conscious evolution. The goal, to escape the bonds that you impose upon yourselves. You are consciousness. Everything else is a transitory delusion, a product of consciousness."

He resumed his previous posture, the smile remaining, spurred on by their looks of mild confusion.

"Many think that consciousness is a product of the brain," he said. "Of its complexity. Picture this. You are in a small boat looking at the surface of the water. You can see nothing that is going on beyond this. To do so you can use a glass bottomed bucket which cuts through the diffusion on the surface, allowing you to perceive what is going on below."

"It is this way that you are conscious. A consciousness that guides the universe like the energy that drives the wave to break on the shore. The water is not the wave. The energy that moves the water is the wave. The universe too is like an ocean. Without consciousness energy to guide it, it is flat, formless. Consciousness affects the ocean causing forms to appear.

"Wait a minute" Adam said. "This is quantum physics." *(Explain quan/phy)

Raphel nodded. "The quantum wave is a wave of information. This one propagating quantum wave generates the uncountable number of particles that make the physical universe that itself can be defined in terms of separation and time. These two states, wave and particle, are somehow merged together, linked and intertwined in ways science has not yet fully comprehended."

"It is the origin from which the universe springs forth."

Sudden realisation came over Adam. "Eden!" he said.

"Pardon?" Teryl said.

Adam looked at her. "Remember. Inside the Martian pyramid. We were trying to establish where Eden was."

She nodded in response, remembering their discussion.

"The four rivers issuing from Eden are a metaphor for the four fundamental forces which construct the universe" Raphel continued. "These four forces issue from the quantum wave, Eden. The quantum foundation of the universe."

Thought created thought in Adam.

He had not realised the full implications of this earlier. "Conscious observation is an integral part of the universal formula" he said. "Without consciousness present, the universe simply cannot exist. One precludes the other. Therefore from the very moment of the big bang consciousness had to be here."

"But what state did consciousness represent then?" Teryl wondered. "Billions of years before stars and planets evolved. Or just seconds after the big bang?"

The answer was obvious.

"Universal consciousness" Raphel replied. "It was Adam and Eves consciousness that was banished from Eden, the quantum wave. Taking on an initial form of universal consciousness."

"So you’re saying that without Adam and Eves consciousness, the physical universe could not have come into being" she clarified.

He nodded. "The banishment of their consciousness was the causative origin of the universe. They were expelled from Eden, the quantum wave, issuing out to water the garden, the universe, to cause it to grow."

Adam was astounded. The mystery that they were involved in was a story that led to the very origins of the universe itself.

"You are beginning to understand" Raphel said. "We have just witnessed the expulsion of their consciousness from Eden, the quantum wave."

"The universe is creating itself." Adam said, his eyes wide with wonder. "Each of us, a part of that creation. Each a point of conscious perception that pulls our bodies and everything around them into reality. From thought to reality, the reality we as finite creators desire."

"The question you must ask" Raphel responded. "Is what are you creating?"

Although she was listening carefully, Teryl had been momentarily occupied with her own thoughts.

Adam and Raphel had become silent. She realised they were both looking at her. "I’ve been thinking about time" she announced. "I think I understand how we form our futures.... Out of the past. The wave and particle sides of our nature are linked. Any action now, in the particle side, has its equivalent effect in the wave side. In the particle universe cause and effect are separated by time. A cause now has its effect in the future. To the wave though, cause and effect are one. The effect we have on the wave now, in our terms, re-manifests out of the wave on the particle side as our futures."

"To the wave everything has already happened" Raphel said. "The particle universe is that happening. You exist in finite terms within this happening, bounded by the infinite wave you perceive as nothing because there is no beginning or end to infinity and therefore no point from which to take any defining measurement."

"When Adam and eve were banished from the quantum wave they became the physical universe" Raphel continued. "The evolution of the universe is the story of their conscious evolution. From atoms, galaxies, stars and planets, to you. All are an expression of that consciousness now trying to understand itself."

"So they are the carrier wave for the universal signal" Adam stated.

"No" Raphel replied.

Adam and Teryl waited for further explanation.

"Do you understand why there is apparent chaos at the quantum level of existence and how you get order from this chaos?"

Their silence indicated that they did not.

"It is because the chaos is a product of your perspective. The quantum wave and its attendant chaos is an interface. It is the place where your universe touches a multitude of others. The order of your universe is in the chaos, hidden amongst other sets of order that confound your perspective on your own universe at this level of existence."

"Like listening to a large number of pieces of music all being played at the same time. It would be impossible to identify any individual piece" Teryl declared.

"Unless you were one individual piece. Perceptually biased to hear only your

own sounds" Raphel replied.

Adam looked around them at the universe that they were now speeding through. Or is it the universe moving past us he wondered, the unintentional humour of the Einsteinian comparison making him smile.

"This multiverse that you are describing" he inquired. "They all ride on one carrier wave."

Raphel nodded.

"Then what’s the carrier?" he asked.

"God" Raphel replied.

"The source of the code" Adam said quietly. "The projector. Is god!"

"Indeed" Raphel replied. "Everything that exists, exists within the God spectrum. A spectrum, of which you perceive only part."

"Within this spectrum there are many realms, creations, some closer to the positive pole, others towards the negative."

"Each of these creations is perceptually independent from the others and can be understood as a universal deity. These deities, the galaxies, stars and planets, are nodes of consciousness that bend space time to create mass, atoms. The same way in which you generate your bodies."

Both Adam and Teryl who had been staring out at the universe turned and looked at Raphel.

"Consciousness is gravity!" Teryl said, astounded.

"The interpretation that accepted blinkered science has given you of the universe" Raphel replied. "Is that mass warps space time, the result being gravity. But gravity is not understood and gravity is consciousness. Mass, whether it is a single atom or the whole physical universe is a product of consciousness."

"This is one of the secrets that has been kept from you"

"The truth of the universe has been hidden from you" Raphel continued. "As well as the intended form you should have had if both the Cains and ourselves had mixed completely, you have also been denied perception. Denied by perceptual blind spots put in place by the J’Agannath. They prevent you from recognising the universe for what it really is and its attendant implications. Leaving you with the stark isolation of a chance creation."

Raphel began again. "The deities described are subordinates of the Supreme Creator and can be viewed as lesser deities that ultimately derive their power from the Supreme Lord of all creation." He hesitated. "Of whom they are progressive manifestations."

Realisation flew open in Teryls mind. "So anyone worshipping the universal deity, the subordinate of the creator of the code is in effect worshipping a false god" she said.

"In as much, yes" Raphel replied. "He is known as the Negative power. Because of the choice made by Adam and Eve he stands now between you and the Supreme One."

Raphel began again. "You now understand that the fundamental constituent of the universe is conscious energy. The universe is the process of the evolution of that consciousness. From atomic, to the level you represent and beyond."

"This conscious energy you know of as soul. When you talk about energy you are talking about soul and because matter is generated by consciousness, it too is soul. The universe is soul and you are part of this soul universe, bound within it at varying levels of consciousness."

"Soul is nothing less than the Supreme Creator, God, the sustaining essence in everything. A rock or a complex biological system, in truth there is no difference. The fundamental substance that constitutes the universe is God. Everything is God" he stressed. "For what else does God have to make the universe from but God."

"When you say the negative power, are you talking about Satan?" Teryl asked.

Raphel nodded. "He is nature, the lord god of the bible, Jehovah, Allah, Brahm. He is the Alpha and Omega, the first and last. He is outside of time, or, everything in all time. Present at both the beginning of this universe and at the end."

"What does this Negative power want?" she asked.

"What it wants is the experience of being God" Raphel replied. "But without giving up its own ego, itself. Satan’s rebellion represented that deities need to set up a realm in its own image. This was in direct opposition to God the creator who banished Satan down the god spectrum to a realm without form."

"Satan knew that all that was needed to bring the universe, itself into form was conscious energy. And so Adam and eve consciousness was tempted into tasting of the ‘apple’, experiencing atoms. For this transgression they were banished from Eden, the quantum wave. Cut off from full awareness to live out their choice."

Teryl had studied the Bible in her youth. She had always had her suspicions about the genesis account of the creation of Adam. He was created twice, once in the image of God and then again out of dust. They were supposed to be two descriptions of the same event. This had made no sense to her, how could something created in the image of God, Soul, also be matter. It implied that God was physical.

Raphels description made absolute sense to her in light of what they had learned. When Adam and Eve were initially created they were wave aware, aware of the whole God spectrum. By tempting them out of wave awareness, the god of this universe, Satan the universal deity, created their physical bodies out of dust, the elements through the process of evolution of the universe.

Adam was thinking. "I’ve always wondered what the tree of knowledge of good and was meant to represent" he asked curiously. "It being related to their expulsion from Eden."

"First you must understand that good and evil are intrinsically linked" Raphel replied. "It is impossible to do one without incurring the other. To give food to one starving person is to deny it to another. Adam and Eve had been warned that they would die positively if they ate of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. When they banished themselves from wave awareness they became alive negatively in particle form, separated from each other and everything else. Knowledge of good and evil refers to the effect of separation caused by particle awareness. This separation causes desire and desire is the root of all suffering. You chase what you desire and this pursuit affirms your choice to remain particle aware. You get exactly what you want. And what you want. What your actions dictate, is the creation of Satan."

"Satan doesn’t exist yet" Teryl interjected.

"Its having an effect, so it must exist" Adam said to himself. He looked at her. "Hang on. The alpha and the omega, present at both the beginning and the end of the universe. Another thing confirmed by quantum physics is that in the wave, a future cause can have a past effect. An omnipresent being present at both the beginning and end could by future cause, effect its creation in the past. One guaranteeing the other."

Raphel continued. "This evolution. This becoming of Satan will not occur until the end of the universe. The place from where he is. For he is the Omega first and the Alpha last.

Raphel continued. "It is to this end that the Negative power has its own subordinates, as with the J’Agannath who are willing accomplices and the Cains, who are unaware in their arrogance as to who they actually serve."

"The J’Agannath are a physical extension. A manifestation of the Negative power, their forms changed in the same way the Supreme creator guides the forms of life on the Earth."

"In exchange for their role as harvesters of soul they were given the knowledge of how to manipulate karma. When they die they can go where ever they wish with their memory, personality and ego intact. Death is not sorrowful to them. As far as they are concerned they have conquered death."

Raphel stopped talking and looked solemnly at Teryl. The look on her face spoke of her disgust and absolute horror.

She opened her mouth to speak. Hesitated then began. "The J’Agannath were attempting to make a sacrificial offering of the Human race to the Negative power.

"I am afraid you are correct" Raphel confirmed. "You saw the sacrificial alter."

The image of the red vortex flashed into their heads.

"The fires of hell as told of in the Bible" Adam said.

"The people throwing themselves into the vortex were having their codes re-written" Raphel informed them. "They were to re-manifest on the face of the earth in a new form. A form suited to the negative powers agenda of self genesis."

"Every soul that unknowingly enters into this contract with the Negative power strengthens it" Raphel continued. "By fulfilling its need the J’Agannath continue to experience the physical universe to which they are addicted. The Negative power manipulates them through this addiction, guaranteeing a supply of souls. The Human race was to be part of the price the J’Agannath must pay in exchange for immortality.

"The same deal the J’Agannath struck with the Pure Line in 1914" Adam said quietly. "The sacrifice of souls in exchange for power.

Teryl recalled the many civilisations that had practised human sacrifice over the centuries, a practice she realised was still going on, the letting of blood by those in power, almost a tradition.

Like a rape victim. The human race has been acting out on itself the abuse it has suffered through time.

Lucifer, Satan," Raphel continued. "Whatever name you give to the Negative power, it is not the problem. You are. All that Lucifer did was to give Adam and Eve the choice of experiencing particle awareness. They chose to do so, and you, as the evolution of their consciousness continue to do so through actions formed out of a response to the very thing that has you deluded."

"Your material bodies are like the glass bottomed buckets" he said. "That you as conscious energy of the quantum wave perceive through. The attraction of physical matter has trapped this conscious energy, drawing it away from wave consciousness into particle consciousness. Deluding you into thinking that you are the glass bottomed bucket of the analogy."

He paused before continuing. "Because of the demands of its surroundings the soul remains under the illusion that it is the body. You believe you are what you are looking at. Trapped by your own delusion. At the mercy of the tides and currents."

"A rock is mainly unconscious. You are not. But compared to God, you are as the rock is to you."

Adam and Teryl were both staring at Raphel, wonderment written on both their faces.

He returned them to orbit high above the Earth.

"Listen carefully... The existence of the atoms of your bodies is maintained by the Negative power. The electron field that surrounds the nuclei of each atom is the manifestation of the Negative power in this physical realm. The strength of that field determines how an atom will manifest; Hydrogen, iron or uranium and so on. The stronger the field the more the original true image is warped. Atoms are like actors trapped in their individual roles. Unable to portray their true form."

The shared memory of the fire dancers they had seen in the city flashed into their heads.

"You only new you were looking at a fire because you have both seen a fire before" Raphel said. "Electrons act like the legs of the dancers around a fire, disrupting the view of the nuclei, forcing you to view the truth through a veil of progressive lies. You are not conscious of the true image and so fail to recognise it. An atom is the image of God affected by the Negative power. You have no memory of God and so do not realise what you are looking at when you study an atom."

Raphel continued. "The Negative power exists as the legions of matter. And as you cannot see into the higher realms so you cannot see past the electron field that surrounds the Soul, the source, the Supreme One that is contained within these legions. Your souls are part of that greater One and it is on this level of One, union, that the Supreme Creator operates. The Negative power, the father of lies, separates the One and isolates you from the truth behind a display of re-definitions isolation and decay. He has many names and is worshipped as the supreme Lord when he is infact only a subordinate in the Grand Hierarchy. He is the tempter. The veil. But it must be remembered. A veil you chose to put yourselves under. The responsibility is and always has been yours."

"You continue exist now because of the sustaining power of the Source that maintains your images so that you can experience, learn and through that, return to your true form. If you listen to the Supreme creator, your consciousness will evolve back to what you really are. The true image. For consciousness is in truth the only separation from God that exists. This is the return to God that so many religions claim to speak of."

He paused then began again. "When you look outwards into the physical universe you see only deception, variations on the true image of things. By looking inwards you can attune yourself to the truth, to infinite wave awareness that contains these multitude of finite states of awareness."

"At the death of the physical body you will transcend the barrier and leave this material state as Garrick did. If you listen to the ego and follow desires as encouraged by the universal deity you will remain here in the physical realms. Bound to a false god that you will evolve into, guided there by the science of the J’Agannath. Only when the identity of this deity is established can a link be established with the true Source."

"For centuries man has been aiming to explore space with material vessels" his disembodied voice said inside their heads. "But you are the ships with which you can explore not just this universe but the whole of creation."

"You are finiteness bounded by infinity. The path to that infinity is within each of you."

Adam looked around. Everything, the galaxies, stars, planets and the life upon them. All were One. A universal brotherhood of consciousness.

Armageddon had been revelation.
