FS-Design Berlin AI AIRCRAFT MODELS FOR FS2004/FS2002

Dynamic air traffic stimulates the FS world and every scenery in it. All who loves classic props will enjoy also classic ai traffic. Unfortunately, there are only a few classic props which are full usable as ai models and looking really nice. Our new FSDS2 models can be used as ai aircrafts but they have no perfect fligfh dynamic for this. In cooperation with FS Lulea/Kallax we develop special classic ai models, which are based on our FS aircrafts.
Our first ai models with special AI FDE's are the AI C-124 and the AI DC-4/C-54 which are simplified and modified versions of our FS aircraft models. To not overtax the PC, all unnecessary parts were removed (primarily the designed interior).

With this AI KIT you can optimize the flight dynamics of our C-124 for proper using in FS AI traffic (but you shouldn't use this AI Flight dynamic for the original flight model!).

SOME REMARKS HOW TO USE AI TRAFFIC AIRCRAFT MODELS

There are two ways to use an AI TRAFFIC plane:
1. To replace a default AI aircraft  or/and
2. using a flight plan editor.

1. REPLACING A DEFAULT AI AIRCRAFT

Explanation of AI aircraft:  AI aircraft are recognized by the title= line in the
plane's aircraft.cfg file.  If a plane has one of the title= lines that the AI
engine recognizes, then it is used as an AI aircraft.  Thus, the strategy is to
modify the title= lines so that FS2004/FS2002 uses our plane instead of a default aircraft.

1.  Unzip the AI model into the AIRCRAFT folder within your FS2004/FS2002 installation. It will create a folder for your plane, and all needed folders within it.

2.  Now you need to decide which default aircraft you want to replace with your own
aircraft (you will replace it ONLY as used as an AI aircraft; you will still be able
to fly the default aircraft normally).

 a.  Fly around your airports, and determine which default AI plane would be the best
one to replace with the plane you downloaded.

 b.  Open that *default* plane's aircraft.cfg file in Notepad (double click the file in
Explorer) and find the Title= line for that AI paint scheme (look at the atc_airline=
line to see if this is the correct airline version).  EXAMPLE:  Let's say that the
     line is: title=McDonnell-Douglas/Boeing MD-83 Paint2

 c.  Now change that line by adding NAI to the end of the title= line (NAI stands for
No AI).  EXAMPLE:  Change the line to:
     title=McDonnell-Douglas/Boeing MD-83 Paint2 NAI

 d.  Save the file, and quit Notepad.

 e.  Open the aircraft.cfg file of the AI aircraft you just installed
in step 1 above in Notepad.  Edit the title= line to match the original line of
the default AI aircraft you edited in step c.  EXAMPLE:  Edit the line so that
     it reads:
     title=McDonnell-Douglas/Boeing MD-83 Paint2

 f.  Save the file, and quit Notepad.  Done!

This plane will now replace the default AI aircraft, everywhere that it would normally
be used.

These instructions are from the legendary Tom Gibson. If you seek more information and classic ai models please visit Tom Gibson's website California Classics.

Note:  If you want to replace two or more default AI aircrafts repeat every step (change the settings in the aircraft.cfg...) for EACH aircraft you want to use.

The pics on the left side are showing 2 changed default ai aircrafts and one DC-4 aircraft model in the FS2004 Tempelhof Scenery of German Airports 4.

2. CREATE OWN AI TRAFFIC WITH A FLIGHT PLAN EDITOR

In the meantime you can download several freeware flight plan editors with which you can make AI air traffic very simply. We use and recommend AI Traffic by Arnt Helge Haaland (http://www.flightsim.com/ or http://www.flightsim.no/).

1.  Unzip the AI model into the AIRCRAFT folder within your FS2004 installation.
It will create a folder for your plane, and all needed folders within it.
2. Download and install a flight plan editor like AI Traffic. Follow the instructions found in the AI Traffic or other program's instructions to add this aircraft to FS2004/FS2002 AI traffic.

It is the advantage of this way (to make own AI air traffic) that you can establish AI air traffic only at certain airports (but not in the whole FS world). However, if you want most possible classic AI air traffic you can also go both ways simultaneously...

You should notice that in FS2004/FS2002 only a part of the airports is intended for AI air traffic. But with the freeware program AFCAD/AFCAD2 by Lee Swordy you can prepare every airport for AI air traffic. You can download AFCAD/AFCAD2 at http://www.fsnordic.net/ and http://www.flightsim.com/ soon.

3. FOR EXAMPLE: BERLIN AIRLIFT AI TRAFFIC

On the left side you can see some screen shots of our first BERLIN AIRLIFT AI TRAFFIC PROJECT. As base airport we had taken a Berlin-Gatow Scenery.  Then Ulf Nordin (FS Lulea/Kallax) has worked on this airport in AFCAD (you can download the separate Gatow scenery with AFCAD file at  FS Lulea/Kallax). After installation of our AI DC-4 aircraft and a C-47 Skytrain AI model by Bernie Bockheim in FS2002 we added with AI TRAFFIC the Airport Berlin-Gatow and then 5 flights from Gatow to Hannover (4 Troop Carrier C-54 and 1 AOA DC-4) and one flight to Hamburg (USAF C-47). We know that these aren't genuine flight connections, it's only a  test.

The planes start at 10 o'clock in distance from 2 minutes (this recurs every 4 hours). So with our FS aircraft C-54 Troop Carrier altogether 7 classic props are starting on this time. By putting our FS aircraft to the top of these props we can cause a small jam... and it looks like in the true Berlin Airlift... what a great feeling!

That's all and you will get the Airlift feeling!

Please note that you can do this also with the new Gatow Scenery of FS-Berlin in FS2004 and FS2002 (go to download)!
