WHERE IS BISHOPTHORPE?

Bishopthorpe

is about three miles due south of York city centre.

Bishopthorpe and our sister village Acaster Malbis are very easy to find. We're halfway between Edinburgh and London or Dublin and The Hague. We're 20 minutes from the A1/M1.

And we're well worth finding!

We're just outside the A64 ring-road, to the west of the River Ouse.

By Rail: York is on the main East Coast Inter-City route.

Trains come to York from just about every corner of the country. Rail is usually the quickest way to get here. York is less than two hours from London, Manchester or Edinburgh. There's even a direct train from Penzance! Bishopthorpe is a 10-minute, £5 taxi ride (or £1 bus ride) from York station.

We're close to the wonderful City of York and even closer to its race-course; and with the Dales and the Moors not far away there's some marvellous scenery within easy reach.

Bishopthorpe has good local facilities: a late-night Co-op, post office, a really good butcher, another late-night shop and a building society agent. Tesco's is just up the road. There's also a chemist, a couple of camp-sites, a florist, a fruit'n'veg shop, three great pubs, a good Cantonese restaurant and lots of hair-dressers!

And there's lots going on!
