Dear Boab,
I read with interest your assessment that it was about time Dundee gave an 'average' team a showing up on Saturday.
From that I take it the team I support, Saints, are the 'average' team in question.
Forgive me for pointing out an age old football quote - the league table does not lie. And unless I am mistaken Saints sit a point above Dundee at present.
The irony of this is not the fact Saints are currently above yourselves. Or even that if Dundee do get a comfortable victory on Saturday (which on Saints current form and injury list would not be surprising) the gap would be a dizzying two point in your favour.
No - the irony is that by any Saints fans admission we have had a much poorer than average season. In fact our season has been abysmal. We are horrendously inconsistent, leak goals badly and have went out of both cups to shocking results.
So let's keep things in perspective when it comes to 'average'. Certainly Dundee have had an above average amount of press coverage. And there is no doubt the wage bill and debt of the club will be above average.
But when it comes to results on the pitch you've had exactly the same season as us - crap (only we haven't been beaten by either of the bottom two - or yourselves - yet).
Anyway - enjoy the game ...
I can't believe the Sunday Mail had a go at the Dundee fans for booing Boyack. What would Celtic or Rangers fans do if one of their players were to turn down an extended deal, showing no loyalty to the club that brought them out of the Wilderness that was Rangers reserves.
I'm sure if Jorge Cadette turned up for Rangers the Celtic fans would applaud his every touch. (not!) Remember Mo Johnston, I suppose the Celtic fans were rapped for booing his first game against them when he wore the Royal blue. In fact I'm pretty sure they did more than boo.
If the Sunday Mail actually did any research it would have a better idea why fans react the way they do to certain players.
Darius Adamzcuk was never booed when he turned out against Dundee for Rangers as he honoured his contract to try keep Dundee up. He also gave 100% every game he played for Dundee, more than a certain Steven Boyack who has lost all touch on reality if he thinks he was Player of the Year?
Rab Douglas was another who wasn't booed, reason being he was liked and would never say a bad thing about the Club he played for.
I'm sure if Henrik Larsson ever left Parkhead he'd never be booed by their faithful either, if he came back to play against them, because he was such a talent.
It's about time that this West Coast rag started taking a good look at the rubbish it prints and actually did a bit of journalism.
Colin
It's great to hear all the optimistic noises from the Dundee support again. I'm sure the fans will be there in force. As long as the refs keep tracks on that diving knaff Juanjo, or is it whingeo?

Thanks!
Brilliant news about Sara and FabCab. Jambos here in Edinburgh aren't too sure about their chances this w/end.
If the Dee match Hearts' work rate for the 90 mins then our flair could do it. Petric odds-on to get red-carded!!
Colin
Doug,
Welcome back, I haven't heard from you in a while.
I'm afraid I can't take total credit for the CDB article, that was a great piece by Colin Judge, of the CDB's.
I'll only take credit for coaxing it out of him.
As for who do I think should be the strike force, that's a difficult one. If everyone was fit and available Ivano would have a sore head working that one out.
Everyone has been foaming at the mouth about a Caballero, Caniggia partnership. I might be a little controversial here, but I think a better balance would be a Caballero, Sara strike force, with Caniggia causing havoc, playing just behind the two of them. His artistry would create countless chances for both of them. Similar to the role Latapy plays for Hibs.
Not to mention whilst defenders were worrying about those two, the maestro could capitalise on the space created for him for a change.
What with Savo and Big Wullie as more than adequate back up if they got tired, we must surely have the most feared strike force in the SPL, bar none.

Hi Boab,
Glad to see that the Dees are back on track with a sparkling win against Falkirk after some dissapointing results so far this year.
Great article about the Capital Dark Blues by you in your web site.
What do think the strike force should be this weekend against Hearts

Steven Tweed is the weak link in the dundee defence the quicker we can get shot of him the better.

I totally agree with you, I don't know who Boyack could replace in the current team, he'd
have been used as back up, unless he really did start to show the correct attitude.
If anyone else wants to add to this debate or any others go to the Link above.

He still seems to be having a go at Dundee fc even today (25/01) ,and
personally I think his Billy big time attitude will trip him up again in
the future.
I see his future as being an average player in an average
team, not exactly the big time move he was hoping for bearing in mind
his unsuccessful trials down south. Who`s place at Dens today would you
sacrifice for Boyack?.....I didn`t think so.
I have been on Holiday and my site has suffered a little neglect, however I'm
now able to focus back on to the Main purpose again Pushing the Mighty Dees
Profile again.
Your contibutions and praise are appreciated and I look forward to everyone's feedback.
Steven,
Keep posted as I've few more new things to come yet.

Hi,
I read in the paper today that Maradona will be making a guest appearance
against Napoli. I was with the Napoli fans for my one and only Serie A game
in 1996. They were chanting
O O O, Ho visto Maradona
To the tune of 'Let's all do the conga'. It translates to:
O O O, I saw Maradona
(the H in Ho being silent in Italian).

Wonderful site
After reading the Dundee site on the 8/1/01 ,I came across your letter. I
noticed your website address so I logged on.I was so impressed.I can only
say that I did not know this site existed.
What a brilliant site this is.
The
time that you must spend on updating your site must take up most of your
time, Do you ever have time to see Dundee play? I will certainly be telling
other people this address.Keep up the good work and Happy New Year.

Hi Bob,
I have just visited your site, great to see you are keeping the good work
up. The new European section is great especially for me as i am too young to
know a lot about those european nights in the 60's.
Daves piece is superb,
well done Dave very interesting story. I only wished i was able to be at
these game my self never mind lets hope the current team deliver european
nights to dens once again.

You don't know how gratifying it feels, to receive praise about the web site from
people like yourself. It makes me feel I'm doing something correct and must be promoting
the Dee properly.
I hope I can keep the interest going for as many fans as possible, it's feedback like this that helps
the development of the site.

Boab,
Have just spent the last half hour looking through your 'European Glories'
section and I would just like to say how much I enjoyed it.
I started attending matches regularly from around season '67-68 onwards so
I'm too young to remember the glory days however I've been told all the
stories from older members of the family and I really enjoyed visiting your
web site.
Like you and many other fellow Dark Blues, I feel we are on the verge of
something big.The heady days of the early 60's might never be repeated but I
have a deep belief that the road to Hampden is going to become a familiar
one in the years ahead.
All the best and keep up the good work

After the kind offers from the previous two Dees. I'd like to take this opportunity to
any fans out there, if they have any material they feel deserves viewing on the site,
I'd be only too glad to find a suitable slot for it on the site.
Boab
That's a tremendous idea. I'd really appreciate that. That's the sort of memorabilia that
should be available for the Dees out there to read.
I'll post it on the site as soon as you make it available.

Caniggia
Dear Bob
I was looking through my programme collection recently and came across the Scotland
v Argentina friendly programme (game was played on 28th March 1990).
It is the only Scotland game I've ever been at, but a certain Mr Caniggia appeared as a sub that night
(the only goal was scored by ex-Dee Stuart McKimmie), anyway I was wondering if you would like to scan the
programme to include on your excellent website so that other 'Dees could read the article on
the Argentinian team & Caniggia.
Yours Douglas Grieve

It would be interesting to know where all our previous players now reside. Any information would be greatly
appreciated from anyone who knows where any of our players are now. I'll try compile a dossier, obviously
I'm not after addresses, just Countries and Cities.
Pud Hill I know still lives in Dundee in the East end.

GREAT PHOTO
Unfortunately I was never lucky enough to witness the great Charlie Cooke in action, what with only being in
Nappies when he was a Dens Hero.
I'm sure there are some of our more mature fans, who could answer that question honestly,
having seen both of them play.
I used to think Jocky Scott was one of the best Strikers I'd seen in the Dark Blue, but now I'm not so sure and
beginning to see in Caniggia, what all these lucky veteran fans, probably took for granted all those years ago.
Boab

Spacer.
The Press in Scotland
In the Daily Record after the Hibs game, John Docherty called our team
"Dundee's Foreigners" a racist remark if ever I heard one.
This was a further example of the West Coast bias against many other teams not just
our own. Perhaps he should look closer to home at Celtic Park and Ibrox
and count the number of "Scottish" players that turn out there on a
weekly basis.
Incidentally I believe we fielded 7 non scots at Easter
Road as opposed to 10 Hibees. Keep up the good work Boab
Stuart King
I can only agree with your sentiments, the Press, especially in the West, would appear
to have us stereotyped without actually doing their homework.
I believe Peter Marr even quizzed the BBC about their Foreign Legion comments, he
never received an answer.
My own opinion isn't the fact we have Foreign players playing for us, which has the Press
making these ridiculous comments, but the fact we have a Foreign
management team. The Press still won't admit they made an error in slating us as a Club
at not renewing Jocky's contract.
Even now we have players such as Caniggia, Carranza and Nemsadze, players which would never
have come to our Club even if Jocky did want them.
