HIGHLAND DARK BLUES

EDITORIAL

The following is a brief account of the Inaugural meeting of the Highland Dark Blues.

We are up and Running

Well the first meeting of the Highland Dark Blues was a great success. John Huband's networking meant a first 11 turned up with apologies from 8 or 9 others. We had lively discussions, reminiscences, and a few beers. We are going to meet on the first Monday in each month in the public bar of the Chieftain Hotel, Millburn Road, complete with large screen TV for the live Premiership action. We even managed to make the lovely young barmaid, Amy, our first honorary member and mascot, although she doesn't know it yet!

Anyone who couldn't make it or anyone else interested in joining should email me on grahamecouttie@totalise.co.uk with name, address, telephone and email numbers, and your likely attendance at matches, or give me a call on 01463 793934. I'll usually have 2 spare seats to all the games.

I can't remember my first Dundee game, only that my Dad had to lift me onto one of the barriers. I think it was 0-0 game against Hibs, maybe 1965? But I've been there when we've played Cologne and AC Milan, and when we've played Clydebank and Ayr! I purchased my first season ticket last year and managed all but a handful of home games, and some of the away games. Row N, seat 132 in the Bobby Cox stand is my location again for this season. I also have the dubious honour of enlisting the panel on Sportsound Your Call one Sunday night, the day after we clinched the top six spot, to help in getting rid of 'the scourge of Scottish Football' - Jim Traynor, only to find he was ON the panel! Perhaps him and his like will have more than 'mediocrity' to applaud at Dens this season.

Anyway, here's to a great season in the company of some more Highland Dark Blues. And I must remember to get a tight -fitting club shirt for our mascot.......!!!
