The following is how John came to think of forming a Highland section.
I keep meeting a few of the supporters up here and we
always say we should arrange something so here it goes.
As to how it
started myself and my mate Mark Kerr have been
lifelong dark blues. We used to work together at
Ninewells and met up again when we moved to new jobs
in Inverness.
The third person is a converted Jambo! We
travelled down together for the 1-1 draw and he went to
the away end. After the game he said that as the game
went on he wished he was in the Bobby Cox supporting
us as he had never seen anything like some of the stuff
that we were trying to play. Since then he has been at
numerous games including another two against the
Jambos but wearing a Dundee scarf and supporting us!
I made contact with Graeme Couttie through the web-
site and we met up with him and Danny Cameron and a
young guy from Forres in the Invergowrie Inn before
one of the games. Mark Kerr and myself then met up
with Iain Smaile when he turned up for a football game
through work. Iain then introduced us to two of his
relatives when we met up in a pub in Inverness to watch
the ppv game against Rangers.
One guy, Colin, I met
when he started talking about the Dee in a pub another
is a taxi driver who I happened to tell I was on my way
home from Dens. My own son Mark is at Uni in
Edinburgh but would also join up. Most of these guys
know others and the thing is snow-balling on the back
of these exciting days! The rest have made contact
through Dundee online.
