Simon MacKintosh gives his verdict.
1. Rangers: have beefed up their team with some hard workers and it will pay off.
2. Celtic: I don't find O'Neill's last minute transfer deals very convincing. Unless some of the younger players come through in spectacular fashion, I don't quite see them catching Rangers this year.
3. Hearts: good coach and a stable team equals consistency.
4. Dundee United: Seemed to go well at the end of last year and I expect to see them continue that form this year.
5. Motherwell: to continue last years good form.
6. Dunfermline: will not be quite as strong as they were under Jimmy Calderwood
7. Aberdeen: Jimmy Calderwood may be just the guy to turn them round.
8. Hibs: Lots of talent on the field but an inexperienced manager.
9. Livi: Form depends on Allan Preston's ability. Should have enough of last year's team to stay in the SPL.
10. Dundee: This is the year to hold on to an SPL place and get the young players some experience. In a year or two we'll be back in the top six, but not this year.
11. Killie: JJ is wearing out his welcome and he could be the first manager of the year to get his jotters.
12. Inverness Caley Thistle: Unfortunately, in modern Scottish Football, the team that comes up this year almost always goes down next year.
League Cup: Rangers to beat Celtic
Scottish Cup: Celtic to beat Rangers (sad, ain't it?)
