My View

My disgust at the Press and their attitude towards Dundee FC

It's amazing how we were all a set of diving foreigner mercenary players, with questionable parentage at the start of the season, but now that we have given the old firm a scare, we must be a really good team all of a sudden.

West Coast Press wouldn't know good football if it hit them in the face, unless of course it was from the old firm.

Let's not forget that torag Chic Young, who accused Caniggia of diving against Hearts, he had to eat humble pie when he saw it on TV.

I hate the Scottish press they are all, in majority sensationalizing turds.

Probably why my Journalist and Hack of the weeks have been neglected recently.

Now just because we have given the West Coast Old firm a scare they want to try and take Caniggia away from us. Hypocritical scum, they complain about the lack of challenge in Scottish Football, then try to destroy a team when they do look like challenging.

The latest being the reports that Caniggia would be better off playing for Celtic or Rangers to satisfy his ego.

Maybe I'm wrong, but has anyone witnessed Claudio on an ego trip?

I really would like to know anyone's thoughts on these latest attempts to undermine our team.

I can't believe the Sunday Mail had a go at the Dundee fans for booing Boyack. What would Celtic or Rangers fans do if one of their players were to turn down an extended deal, showing no loyalty to the club that brought them out of the Wilderness that was Rangers reserves.

I'm sure if Jorge Cadette turned up for Rangers the Celtic fans would applaud his every touch. (not!) Remember Mo Johnston, I suppose the Celtic fans were rapped for booing his first game against them when he wore the Royal blue. In fact I'm pretty sure they did more than boo.

If the Sunday Mail actually did any research it would have a better idea why fans react the way they do to certain players.

Darius Adamzcuk was never booed when he turned out against Dundee for Rangers as he honoured his contract to try keep Dundee up. He also gave 100% every game he played for Dundee, more than a certain Steven Boyack who has lost all touch on reality if he thinks he was Player of the Year?

Rab Douglas was another who wasn't booed, reason being he was liked and would never say a bad thing about the Club he played for.

I'm sure if Henrik Larsson ever left Parkhead he'd never be booed by their faithful either, if he came back to play against them, because he was such a talent.

It's about time that this West Coast rag started taking a good look at the rubbish it prints and actually did a bit of journalism.

In the Daily Record after the Hibs game, John Docherty called our team "Dundee's Foreigners"a racist remark if ever I heard one.

This was a further example of the West Coast bias against many other teams not just our own. Perhaps he should look closer to home at Celtic Park and Ibrox and count the number of "Scottish" players that turn out there on a weekly basis.

Incidentally I believe we fielded 7 non scots at Easter Road as opposed to 10 Hibees. Keep up the good work Boab

Boab,
You're spot on with your comments regarding the over zealous foreign sentiment expostulated by the less than erudite scribes and narrators hailing from bigot centre of the universe.

The press

I haven't read the comments about Claudio having an ego. Where did you read them? I suppose we have pretty well won over the press now after our last 2 performances so the worst of it is over now. if Chic Young's comments on Saturday are anything to go by he's been converted aswell. I do agree that the west coast press are sensationalism scum, but that's life I suppose. What can we do?

RE-The Press

I believe what I read was in Hugh Keevins column where he suggested that a player of Caniggia's ability was wasted at Dundee and his ego would require him to move onto Celtic or Rangers.

I only glimpsed the article, but that's how I interpreted it. I don't buy the Sunday Mail any more after Mark Guidi's comments at the start of the season about Dundee.

I agree the Press have changed their tune about us, but only because we gave Celtic a fright. They I believe, are just patronising us at the moment due to this fact. I'm sure they'd still (privately) love us to fall flat on our faces and not make the top six.

A breathe of fresh air into the Scottish game I believe they are saying now. Remember when it was they are a set of tempremental, Diving Latin , shirt pulling cheats?

Here's how much the Press research Dundee, they said Savo was on loan to Brechin yesterday on TV. He was only voted 3rd Division Player of the Year for FORFAR.

I'm afraid it will take more than a few patronising words before I can take the West Coast Press seriously. I really wish Claudio would be offered a deal that would keep him at the club for the rest of his career. If anything it would really shut up the doubters of his intentions at Dens. If he does move on, I hope we at least have the honour of seeing him partner Caballero before he goes and if we make Europe, why not that extra year from both of them, to see how much they can achieve with our under fancied team. Remember 1962 we were unknowns.

Maybe someone can post the exact comments made, to clarify the "Ego" statement?
