The Toronto based Dees headed off to the Bramalea Rangers Supporters Club to watch the Dundee v Rangers game. Iain Laird describes how it all came to take place.
I had been working on this project since well before Christmas and had been in talks with the Bramalea RSC President. It was through a friend of my wife Annette, Walter Low of the Bramalea Rangers Supporters Club that I got all the relevant contact information.
A big thank you has to go to all who helped raise monies especially to Alex Morrison the President Bramalea RSC for agreeing to help Dundee in our hour of need. Alex was only too glad to help Dundee out in similar fashion that the Celtic Supporters had down in Houston.
On arrival at the Club Alex Morrison welcomed us all to the Rangers Club and said the entrance fee would be waived for the Dundee fans and we could get free drinks from the bar also. This hospitality more than shocked myself, Steve Watson and Greg Watson, yet again true Football Supporters were shown to stick together in times of hardship. We decided that the entrance money we should have paid be added to the Dee 4 Life monies collected by the Rangers fans. Alex said that would be great and he would announce everything that was happening to the Rangers Membership at half-time.

He introduced us as “Special Guests from the North American Dundee Supporters
Club he’s here to collect some money to try save Dundee, who we all know are in
financial trouble.” It was pointed out what had happened in Houston for Dundee
and they had agreed to do the same thing for the Dee 4 Life Fund regarding
donating their share of the 50/50 draw.
I was asked to explain exactly what was happening regarding the collection.
I told them that Dundee fans through out not only North America and Canada, but
the entire globe were trying to raise funds for the club they love. It was the
intention to take pictures of their President handing over their donation and to
have it posted on various websites to show how generous other fans really are in
times of trouble. These Website addresses would be passed onto them to see for
themselves the appreciation their contributions have to Dundee fans. A fact
which brought a huge applause from the Rangers fans.
During their half time draw one of their fans Rusty won a Rangers T-Shirt and
handed it straight over to me to have it raffled off to try raise some extra
money for the Dee 4 Life campaign. These guys really genuinely want to see
Dundee survive and are true Football fans.

At fulltime we waited until the screen went up so we could take a photo shoot of
the cheque being handed over. In total they had raised $210 including our
entrance fees towards the Dee 4 Life Fund. They then presented us with another
two Bramalea Rangers Club T-Shirts to raffle off.
Even though we lost the game it was a good experience. Their hospitality was
fantastic as was their generosity. While mixing with the Rangers fans a couple of guys said they were embarrassed that McLelland
won't just pay Dundee the £250,000 for Rae. One fan went as far as to say
that he wished David Murray would just step in and buy Rae for the
£250,000, as if they lost him it would be their own fault..
Many thanks go to Alex Morrison for his help in organising the Rangers Supporters efforts and for the other members of the Glasgow Rangers Supporters club Bramalea Branch 's for their generosity and hospitality.
