North American Dundee Supporters Club

The NADSC (Toronto Section) Welcome Touring Dees

A report from Robert Laird
Editor of “Boab’s Little Piece Of Scotland”

The North American Dundee Supporters Club played host to some Dundee fans who were currently holidaying in the Toronto area.

All fans know the frustrations of missing Dundee games due to holiday or work committments but the NADSC through it's network of members covering most of North America will know the best places with which to watch the games against the Old Firm.

It is with special thanks to the Bramalea Branch of Celtic Supporters Club that not only this set of travellers were able to watch the Rangers match but the Toronto based NADSC members were able to enjoy the game also, if not the result, Dundee went down 3-1 but it has to be said the general consensus was the score flattered Rangers.

Granted our hosts were every bit as eager for a Dundee win as ourselves, but they did mention if only Dundee didn't give the ball away as often we could well have taken something out of the game if not all 3 points. They were also very keen to have a couple of our players in their team which speaks volumes with the regard Dundee are currently held with other fans in North America.

The vastness geographically of the NADSC makes it difficult for all their members to get together all at once, though many finally did meet at last Season's Scottish Cup final. The NADSC try their best to make any travelling Dees welcome and although this article is based on the Toronto based NADSC members, I'm sure all the Members throughout North America would also extend the same hospitality whether it be in the far West of Canada or the South East of the United States.

It is with this in mind that the NADSC came into existance, to not only organise places for like minded Dees living in the North American Continent to enjoy games together but to also help promote the name of Dundee FC and assist travellers like myself to enjoy the Football experience which is watching and Supporting Dundee FC.

I was privvy to their latest discussions regarding their Club and it's hoped to have a comprehensive list of venues on their website very soon once all their members have been contacted and suitable locations are confirmed. They already have a list of popular places in New York and Toronto online where to watch matches, but it's hoped to add to this and have contacts for each Area so any Dundee fan can watch the games with friendly faces. The Club is in it's infancy still but is trying to develop and I'm sure it will grow as more people become aware of its existance.

Scottish Football is a very scarce commodity for the North American Ex-pats so the banter from the travellers is also very much appreciated by the members of the NADSC to actually get a larger picture on what's happening within Scottish Football.
