A group of very different people have gathered on a hilltop to await the return of a UFO, which has appeared there regularly and at crucial moments in all their lives. As they wait, the mysterious David encourages them to talk and to confront their inner demons. Before the night is over, they will all be changed and one of them will have gone for good.

It is Christmas Eve and, with her husband George bedridden and her daughter waiting to get her hands on the house, you would think Mary would have trouble sleeping. But sleep she does and may find the answers she needs in her dreams. Paul and Linda meet by chance on the roof of a block of flats but at first neither suspects that they are both there for the same reason - to jump.
