This map of Scotland concerns Scotlands darkest hour. In the late 13th and early 14th centuries, the Kingdom of
Scotland faced a desperate battle for survival. The tyrant King, Edward I of
England, unleashed his forces, the greatest in Christendom, against the
unsuspecting Scots.
Scotland faced annihilation.
Two men led the defence, one a
Knight, the other a King.
Sir William Wallace and King Robert Brus may never have seen
eye to eye while they lived, but between them they led the resistance to
English domination, and regained Scotlands stolen independence.
Wallace,
the victor of the Battle of Stirling Bridge in 1297ad, and Brus, the victor of the
Battle of Bannockburn in 1314ad, will be remembered and revered by
their countrymen forever.
