St John's Lodge was one of the first villas to be built in the park .Another was The Holme For along time it was the home of Sir .Isaac Lyon Goldsmit. But in 1888 it was purchased by the Marquess of Bute. The Fountain, shown here in June and in November shows Hylas, a friend of Hercules , being abducted by a Neried, or fresh water mermaid. The Lodge was built by Decimus Burton in 1819 and later extended. Below is the fountain

There are statues of cherubs on pillars carrying the arms of Lord Bute.
