March in Regent's Park

Regents Park in March

They say that if March comes in like a lion it goes out like a lamb, and if it comes in like a lamb it goes out like a lion. March in the park can be very wintry or quite spring like or even as warm as a summers day. This is a picture of the east side of the lake showing daffodils and blossoms on the 19th of March

The picture shows a coots nest, just under a willow tree at the end of March. What is unusual is that the mother bird wove some daffodils into the nest

.

On the right you can see white and purple crocuses in early March. This is near the bridge that crosses the lake near St Andrew's gate. There are more pictures of this part of the park at over the bridge

Although this may look like ducks walking on wet ashphalt, these are actually walking on the frozen lake, showing that even in March it can get below freezing sometimes.Come and see pictures of the lake frozen in January

This is another picture showing crocuses. This is near St Andrews gate y

The Park is full of the colours of Spring. In the second half of March, especially as we get near to Easter, the trees burst into yellow, pink or white blossoms. I remember attending the harness horse parade in the park which always took place on Easter Monday and when the trees in the inner circle were always covered in blosom. This was taken on March 31st

These two pictures show the smaller waterfall in Queen Mary's Gardens, one in late march and one in early March.

This is a picture of a daffodil
