Harry Chaundy was the author of 'The Rowing of St Philip and St James, Oxford, 1889-1909.'


Obituary

Mr. Harry William Frank Chaundy, of 5 The Plain, Oxford, one of the oldest photographers in the city, died on Wednesday, aged 83.

A member of an old Oxford family, he had been in the photographic business on The Plain, first with the former owner, the late Mr. Ernest Hall, for more than 65 years. When Mr Hall died 14 years ago. Mr. Chaundy took over the business.

In his younger days he was a keen oarsman and footballer. With Mrs Chaundy, who survives him - they celebrated their golden wedding in 1963 - he was actively concerned with the organisation of the Good Companions Club for old people.

They also ran "The Crackpots", a pensioners' percussion group.
