Hednesford, 3rd May, Unlimited Bangers

Cheers to wor Nev for sending us this report through from what sounded like a lively day in the Hills on Bank Holiday Monday

It was a seasons best turnout of 20 Unlimited Bangers at Hednesford on Mayday for both a normal 2 heat & final program and the annual caravan race. A touch of emotion on the day as well as this was to be 7 Loopy Lec's last meeting, enjoy the sideways life DENNIS!. To mark the occasion, his Crash Co team-mate's pulled out the stops and brought some first class tin, 94 Guv had a 4dr MK1 Hearse,127 Challo a Vole 740 Hearse, 54 Bandit a smart V6'd P5b but show stopper was 40 Kitch's
DS420 Hearse which was both on the original lump, and was super smart thanks to top EA sign Guru J.C. Signs. Also for the normal races we had a used MK1 Saloon and a used MK2 Limo but 5 Mad Rath again indulged his love of a Yank with a tidy Chevy Caprice Estate.

A bad start for the Fatman duo of 107 Steve Cutis(Used limo) & 102 Lanky Tim as they found themselves in the wall at the start of heat 1. Same for Crash Co as Lec hit Kitch’s Hearse by mistake!. Challo put a recovered Lanky Tim in while Mad Rath ran 345 Watty around the wall who also took a hit from Challo. Guv fired Rath into the front of Lanky Tim which wrote him off on the spot as Guv, 222 Matt Logan & Bandit all had pop’s at 114 Psycho Sykes. 70 The Needle took a no-contact win just as 213 Woka buried Sykes’ MK1 into Kitch which allowed Lec & Bandit in with shots & Needle with a t-bone which left the 114 car in a mess.

Heat 2 wasn’t up to much but Kitch was determined to kill the Hearse after the steering went in the opening laps and he proceeded to back up into traffic on the pits bend, just team-mate Needle obliging until Bandit took the flag and he joined in the fun as well leaving the DS in a mess and the large Bank Holiday crowd loving it.

Same again for the final, 218 Lee Clelland spun Lec while Bandit spun himself and was collected by Logan. 23 Spunky clouted Logan but took a package from Woka, Lec bringing the curtain down by t-boning Bandits Rover. Bandit tried to have Clelland out against the flow but didn’t connect with the rest driving past the prone Rover without hitting it, Watty taking the win.

Next up was the ‘Van race with a load of tin for that as well, used Series 1 XJ, fresh MK1, used X10D, fresh MK3 Hearse & Limo but topping this lot was 272 Gazza’s fresh, and tender, 6/110. For the Caravans!. It was usual Caravan stuff, 303 Dangerous Bri shed his first, 68 Clive Scott ploughed into 250 Jez’s van before a turn 3 pile saw all go in, including Gazza who mounted a trailer. 8 Deadly came out the pile-up on opposite and stopped 232 Jon McAlee stone dead with a head-on while Bri was the last man doing the laps and had found a way through the wreckage, he duly took the win and fired into the dead 402 Pogo’s abandonded Van on the centre.

We had a quick DD to wrap things up, new man 108 had a pop at Sykes before he was blown up by Woka and given a stiff head-on by Deadly at the same time. Clelland t-boned Bandits Rover and then steamed Logan who replied with a head-on. Pogo, in his might Reno 19 (Energy we belive) hit Clelland on the grass before Deadly fired up and set about Clelland and the 54 Rover to be the last car running but he was not given the win as he had been out of action for too long, and we don’t just mean this race either!!. Clelland taking the trophy and the money.
