16 motors for the second Workington meeting of 2004 which had some welcome drivers in the pits. Great to see 340 Jay Atkinson back out while welcome visitors 55 Graham Smith and 05 Carlos Perez made the trip up also. Suprisingly the Bluebird entry only numbered 6 while the Capri also was 6 strong with Perez's fresh Mk5 Tina also worthy of a mention.

 317 Lee Hennedy hooked out 7 Matthew Threlkheld to start the action in heat 1 before 258 Chris Hart run 318 Wilf Speak in whilst part of a cluster of cars heading into the entrance bend. 36 Turkey Birkett then delivered a head on in the direction of 151 Steve Scurr Jnr before Jay steamed 511 Steve Scurr Snr well with running mate 341 Sean Lowther then running over the TNT mans bonnet leaving the Team V man pearched in the air. The recovered Young Scurr now hit 917 Derek Jones on turns 3-4 with the latter also taking punishment from 250 Stane Thompson and 111 Jeff Platts. The latter then took a burial from 258 Harty before Stane put 300 Dan Kirkbrides Capri in before recovering only to be spun into an inner tyre by Jay and was collected head on by Jones. Kirkbride came under further fire from Stane and Young Scurr with the Krazy Krew man then taking 688 Wayne Morphet round as 317 Bullit hit the empty Platts motor with Harty taking the win from Jay and Jones to end a pretty lively opener.

 Harty had Kirkbride out at the start of the second heat before Perez took a follow in from old enemy Turkey who carried onto put Kirkbride out, leader Bullit then putting himself in on the back straight and taking a t-bone from 55 Smiggy as a result before Morphet steamed and then with the help of Wilf put the 250 estate away. Turkey now steamed Bullit hard on the back straight as Jay put Smiggy into a post as Turkey put Jay round. Harty put Morphet in on turn 3 before having Harty out as 341 Beaver weighed into Smiggy and inturn taking a shot from Harty who also felt the force of Jay. Wilf took the flag this time with Beaver and Jay being the placemen.

 The final went into a DD and started with Turkey being took out by Wilf before Jay caught a post big time and snapped the Capri in half before also taking a t-bone from Perez to complete his woe. Wilf took the win which signalled the start of the demo, Smiggy steaming Kirkbride before being run in by Beaver, the Team V man then weighing into the Leveller before Turkey followed in Bullit hard and hit Perez's dead motor before being put in by Wilf and taking a revenge shot from the recovered Bullit who inturn felt the force of Morphet. Wilf then did Beaver over the front wheel with Stane inturn doing Wilf while the lively Turkey took a well deserved win as the last car running after Beaver caught alight.

 This wrapped up a good nights entertainment, Workington so far producing top action at all its meetings with turnouts still in the teens, if it could attract a few to try it out and get the turnouts into the twentys then Im sure we could be enjoying even better sessions each meeting.
