You will need my Baby Giraffe selections.
Extract the selection files to where ever you keep them and can find them :o)

OK, lets role up our sleeves and get creating.
I hope you like the lighten and darken aspect of the retouch tool as this tut uses it a lot and don't forget to save your work often lest the dreaded freeze occurs :o)

1. Open an new image 370x430 with a transparent background.

2. Add a new raster layer naming it front leg Selections/load from disc, open the bg_fleg.sel. Flood fill with#8E6A49. Selections/select none.

3. Add a new raster layer naming it back leg. Go to selections/load from disc and open bg_bleg.sel. Flood fill with #8E6A49 Selections/select none.

4. Add a new raster layer naming it ear1. Go to selections/load from disc and open bg_ear1.sel. Flood fill with #8E6A49. Selections/select none.

5. Add a new raster layer naming it body. Go to selections/load from disc and open bg_body.sel. Flood fill with #8E6A49. Selections/select none.

6. Add a new raster layer naming it ear2. Go to selections/load from disc and open bg_ear2.sel. Flood fill with #8E6A49. Selections/select none.

7. Add a new raster layer naming it eye. Go to selections/load from disc and open bg_eyes.sel. Flood fill with black. Selections/select none.

8. OK, now for the artistic bit :o) When I use the retouch tool I use a sweeping brush stroke gradually building up the effect. I went through layer by layer using the retouch tool to lighten and darken areas of Giraffe. Don't be afraid to alter the size of the brush, just use what suits you and the way you work, for the finer detail near the ears I reduced the size to 7. These are the settings I used and a full size screen shot so you can see where and how much I shaded the Giraffe.

9. Change the retouch tool to smudge and at the following settings, pull out the end of the tail and the back of the neck.

Right click the layer palette and merge layers visible. With the retouch tool at the following settings soften the image.

10. Create a new layer naming it detail. Go to selections/load from disc and open bg_detail.sel. flood fill with #E1D5CE. In the layer palette bring down the opacity of the detail layer down to about 50.

Merge all layers visible and save as a tube or in PSP format. If it is too big for your liking resize but remember to sharpen the image, I prefer to use the unsharp mask with a radius of 1.00, strength 75 and clipping 0.

If you want to do some more, Mum is waiting *s*
