You will need my
Giraffe selections.
Extract the selection files to where ever you keep them
and can find them :o)
OK, lets role up our
sleeves and get creating.
I hope you like the lighten and darken aspect of the
retouch tool as this tut uses it a lot and don't forget
to save your work often lest the dreaded freeze occurs
:o)

using the same setting as for the eyes
8. OK, now for
the artistic bit :o) When I use the retouch tool I use a
sweeping brush stroke gradually building up the effect. I
went through layer by layer using the retouch tool to
lighten and darken areas of Giraffe. Don't be afraid to
alter the size of the brush, just use what suits you and
the way you work. These are the settings I used and a full
size screen shot so you can see where and how much I
shaded the Giraffe, I chose to darken fairly drastically
as when it came to resizing the image it lost it's
contour.

9. Right click the
layer palette and merge layers visible. With the retouch
tool at the following settings soften the image.

10. Create a new
layer naming it detail. Go to selections/load from disc
and open gdetail.sel. Set your foreground colour to
#F8DEB7 and the background colour to #A16A3E, get the
flood fill tool set to foreground/background gradient with
an angle of 37 repeated 4 times flood fill the detail. In
the layer palette bring down the opacity of the detail
layer down to about 50.

Merge all layers visible
and save as a tube or in PSP format. If it is too big for
your liking resize but remember to sharpen the image, I
prefer to use the unsharp mask with a radius of 1.00,
strength 75 and clipping 0.
If you want to do some
more, baby
is waiting *s*
