The fur jpg was obtained here -

OK, lets role up our sleeves and get creating.

1. Open an new image 380x550 with a transparent background.

2. Add a new raster layer naming it branch. Go to selections/load from disc and open kbbranch.sel. Flood fill with solid colour, I used #564332. Go To Effects/Artistic effect/Brush strokes and use these settings -

Selections/select none. Go to Effects/3D effects/Inner bevel using these settings -

Now soften the entire branch by using the retouch tool set as below -

3. Add a new raster layer naming it body. Go to selections/load from disc and open kbbody.sel. Flood fill with the fur.jpg. Selections/select none.

4. Add a new raster layer naming it leg. Go to selections/load from disc and open kbleg.sel. Flood fill with the fur.jpg. Selections/select none.

5. Add a new raster layer naming it arm. Go to selections/load from disc and open kbarm.sel. Flood fill with the fur.jpg. Selections/select none.

6. Add a new raster layer naming it ear. Go to selections/load from disc and open kbear.sel. Flood fill with fur.jpg. Selections/select none.

7. Add a new raster layer naming it inner ear. Go to selections/load from disc and open kbinnerear.sel. Flood fill with solid colour, I used #D6B6B3. Selections/select none. With the retouch tool at these settings darken the ears.

Change the retouch tool to soften and with the same settings as before soften the entire ear.

8. Add a new raster layer naming it head. Go to selections/load from disc and open kbhead.sel. Flood fill with fur.jpg. Selections/select none.

9. Add a new raster layer naming it eye. Go to selections/load from disc and open kbeyes.sel. Flood fill with black. Go to effects/3d effects/inner bevel and apply the round preset. With the retouch tool set to soften with the same settings as before soften the entire eye.

10. Add a new raster layer naming it nose. Go to Selections/load from disc and open the kbnose.sel. Set your foreground to grey (#404040) and your background to black and flood fill with a foreground/background gradient. Go to Effects/3D effects/Inner bevel and apply the following settings.

11. Click on the head layer and create a new raster layer naming it eye rim. Set your foreground colour to #D6B6B3 and with the airbrush tool at these settings -

Place the tool so that it surrounds the eye and click 3 or 4 times to gently shade the rim of the eye. Do the same to both eye's.

12. Using the retouch tool set to Darken RGB and Lighten RGB we are going to go through the layers altering the shading and shaping our Koala bear.

13. Magnify your image and working on the different layers, but not the eyes or nose, use the retouch tool with the following settings to manipulate the fur taking note that the fur around the ears is much longer.

Merge visible layers and there you have Cuddles the Koala :o)
As the image is fairly large you may need to resize, don't forget to sharpen.
