PSP8  Pixel Grape Hyacinth Tut

This tutorial has been written using PSP8 but should work in PSP7. Please take the time to read my terms.

Rather than me giving screen shots showing how many pixels please drag this image to your work area to use as a template.

 

1. Image, increase colour depth to 16 million colours. Layers - Promote background to layer. With the magic wand , tolerance 0, feather 0, mode = add, select the white areas of the image and delete so you only have the outlines. Or create a new layer and with the paint brush at size 1 trace over the outlines using your own colours.

note - for PSP7, hold Shft while using the magic wand to select all the white areas.

Ctrl+D. 

 

2. With the magic wand click inside the stem. Flood fill with #91AC78. Effects - 3D Effects - Cutout at the setting given. Crtl+D.

Repeat for the leaves.

3. Set the foreground colour to #9F96FF. Set the paintbrush, round, size 9, hardness 1, density 100, thickness 66, rotation 25, blend mode normal. Create a new layer. Place the curser just below the left leaf and to the left of the stem, click once. Reduce the size of the brush to 1, thickness 100, rotation 0. Magnify your image to 1000%. By following the screen shot and using the colours given, paint in the detail.

Bring the magnification down to about 600%.

For PSP7, create a new layer, paintbrush size 1, use the colours in the palette to paint the flower as shown in the screen shot. Each square represents 1 pixel.

 

4. Ctrl+C. Ctrl+E to paste as a new selection. Place a new flower above and slightly in from the original. Ctrl+E to paste as new selection and place this third flower above and slightly in from the second. Repeat, working your way up the stem. 

Duplicate the layer. Image - Mirror. Move the flowers in to place on the other side. 

 

5. Create a new layer. Set the paintbrush as in step 3 but set the size to 10 and leave the rotation at 0. Paint a flower slightly below the lowest flower and over the middle of the stem. 

Reduce the size of the brush to 1, thickness 100. Magnify your image to 1000%. By following the screen shot and using the colours given, paint in the detail.

Bring the magnification down to about 600%.

For PSP7, create a new layer, paintbrush size 1, use the colours in the palette to paint the flower as shown in the screen shot. Each square represents 1 pixel.

 

6. Ctrl+C. Ctrl+E to paste as a new selection. Place a new flower above and off center to the original. Repeat going up the stem.

I have switched off my other flower layers so you can see how I placed mine.

Merge all layers visible

 

Save as a tube or in PSP format.
