The Season end!
Not a bad season really. The 1st XI finished in their usual comfortable mid table position. Things could have been so much better if all players had been available, but this is the story for most clubs, I guess. Scott's knee injury towards the end of the season curtailed his bowling skills and left the side one bowler short. The meagre appearances of talented bat Andy Churchill didn't help us to post decent scores. Some positive points were that some young talent emerged in Tyson Dunz behind the stumps and Chris Watson with the ball. Andy parks proved his worth with the ball in the latter part of the Season and pitched in with some useful wickets. The Turriff Cup win was a joy with a very tight run thing against Banchory.
The 2nd XI had a frustrating season. They finished second in the League to a good Cults side. The only side to beat Cults were Ellon in the first game of the season. The side also reached the Johnstone Rose Bowl final losing heavily to Cults. Some terrific bowling from Steve Dalton, Huw Owen and myself throughout the season proved there is life in an old dog yet! Some of the younger talent coming through the ranks will have to wait a while I think! Kenny Hutcheson proved his batting was better than his bowling, not difficult though! And old sage Ean Mackie batted like a young 'un for most of the season topping the Clubs batting averages.
P.S. Welcome back Steve Reid & Charlie Reid from their long trips to the USA, Australia and New Zealand!
