Fairport And Friends On

Chris Blackwell's Island Label started out as a vehicle for his love of Jamaican music. However, at the end of the Sixties, Blackwell started to sign some of the new popular `Progressive' groups.

Record producer Joe Boyd secured deals for his `WitchSeason' acts with Island and amongst these were Fairport Convention who, after one LP on Polydor, released their Island debut, ``What We Did On Our Holiday's",  in 1969.

Although Fairport Convention remained with Island Records until 1976, this feature will concentrate on those records released on Islands collectable `Pink' Label.
