Austin Healey Sprite
The Sprog-eyed Fright

A 1959 Austin Healey "Frog-eyed" Sprite which had the benefit of a 1275cc engine instead of the standard 948cc item, and chubby rear wheels. The original steel-and-rust nose had been replaced with a lightweight glassfibre front-end - the result of trying to brake on a damp road, with old tyres on the front (thank heavens that Triumph 2000 was there to stop against; I might have hit something otherwise...). The light impact revealed the true extent of the thitherto-concealed corrosion, so in the skip went the original front-end. Having scored another victory over the tinworm by replacing most of the floor, it proved a worthy companion to the MGA for a while.

Pictured here with Kevin Doyle, its suitably-smug-looking next owner, it was the best hangover-cure I have ever come across. One day I'll tell you about the best hangover I've ever come across; for now, the research continues...
