Happiness Is... ...The Yeller Feller (also known - unofficially, I must emphasise - as "Death By Custard") - my 1947 Morris 8 Hot Rod. It was in my ownership for 15 years (1977-1992). Bought as a sad derelict, because I could identify with it (see left-hand picture, taking careful note of the lightweight racing-grille and rubber front wings...), by the time the right-hand picture was taken I had joined the Surrey Street Rodders and the Morris had been fitted with a 3.5-litre Rover V-8 engine and an eclectic mix of undercarriage. Not to menton the 3.5" roof-chop and the Very Yellow paint. Oh, I mentioned them. Sorry.
(Would anyone recognising that gag please not tell Bob Monkhouse. Thank you.) Click on the left-hand picture for The Story of Old Yeller; by clicking on the right-hand picture you should plunge headlong into the Wonderful Thing that is the the Surrey Street Rodders website (if you don't, please let me know and I'll give the SSR Webdude a terrible talking-to. Unless it's my fault. Oh, what the heck, I'll blame him anyway). |
