Psychodynamic exploration, using hypno-analysis will often resolve fears, conflicts and the neurosis which is deeply rooted in the subconscious of the mind. The next step is CBT and aimed at the dysfunctional negative patterns that have been learnt over time, causing repetitive reactions to individuals or situations. This is where negative patterns eventually destroy the individual’s emotion and interpersonal adjustment. A person that is prone to depression finds it difficult to think about the future, and will project the same kind of hurt and pain suffered in the past.
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy is vital for establishing good learning, developing coping thinking and relationship skills, which will dramatically reduce, and even eliminate depressive episodes. Panic attacks cause overwhelming feelings of terror. It is suggested to be biological reflecting hypersensitivity to noradrenergic receptors. Medication can relieve panic by down regulating these post-synaptic receptor B adrenergic receptors. However, medication is unable to relive the anxiety state, and the fears of further attacks. A patient will lose confidence when these drugs fail to prevent an attack, and will often seek psychotherapeutic help.
