A FAYLE FAMILY TREE

Here is a scan of a family tree my grandfather(I think if was him) made of his branch of the family tree from his side of things. I am the one called Geraldine, daughter of Liz and Richard Fayle, and I have three brothers. Since this was made, my brothers and I have mostly all had children apart from my youngest brother who is Autistic and can't speak let alone get into that sort of relationship. My older brother Roger (John William added Knott) has two sons Joshua (b.1990) and Gabriel (b.1991? 22 months younger) Patrick, my younger brother has three children Cressida (b.1991?) Benjamin (b.1993? not sure either)and Alfred (b.2001) I have a son called Isaac (b.1985) but my son is also called Waters as the maternal line is not the one that counts (Actually he is known technically as Isaac James Knott Fayle-Waters). Also I have some cousins related to the Fayles but their mother married a Hughes so the Fayle name disappears again. Enough Waffle - here it is

Here is a picture of Three Fayles 2 generations it might be a bit of slow load as the picture is enormous but it makes me laugh as they are my two brothers and my son.

That sounds interesting. (John Bury) He might be one of ours - sounds right name wise. Could e-mail me a photo if you want. :)

I have a very nice portrait drawing of Rev. Richard Fayle of Torquay in England, done about 1841, son of Benjamin Fayle who built the first railway in Dorset. Is he one of yours? Would you like to see the drawing?

Hi there

My gt gt gt gt gt aunt, Judith Rangeley married John Knowles in 1767. Their daughter Elizabeth married Edward Fayle (of London) in 1794. They had 6 children: ? (1795); Edwad (1796); Henry (1798); John Knowles (1800); Charles (1801); Benjamin (1804), Eleanor 'Judith' (1806); Elizabeth 'Eliza' (1808) and William Rangeley (1811). In Judth Knowles (nee Rangeley) will, she referred to the Fayles of Ireland. So somewhere, I suggest this family is related to yours. Any idea? Bye

My father was Thomas Disney Fayle Seaton. He was named after Disney Fayle Grant who was killed in WW1 (see Commonwealth War Graves Commission website). My father was the great great great grandson of the Disney Fayle (1748-1829). My Father's grandfather was Higginson Fayle Grant - Higginson is another name with an interesting history.

So Higginison Fayle Grant was Disney Grant's great grandson: I am missing a lot of detail from my family tree between the two of them. I would be very glad to hear from anyone who can tell me about the children and grandchlidren of Disney Fayle and their spouses.

Thanks to everyone who has contribiuted to this fascinating tree and guestbook.

Hello !
I am Grandson of Jack Adrian Fayle who has since passed about 3 years ago now. I was just looking up the Fayle name on google and was amazed at the findings.

Hello:

I'm one of the "distant cousins" Beatrice mentions in her post in 2006(?). Several years after she got in touch with us, I got back in touch with her family (through my dad, David - son of Benjamin, brother of Brian) last year and ended up living in the same village in France as Beatrice's sister. Although Beatrice and I are 4th cousins once-removed, it's amazing how their family accepted me as part of their own.

The power of the internet and of genealogy/family is very strong! It's links like this that make it all possible (and fun!).

Cheers,
Alex

I am an Australian Fayle, one of the many decendants of Richard and Martha, via 3 generations (not 2 as shown on the tree) of William Fayles and then Disney Fayle (elder brother of Benjamin on your tree). I am intrigued to know where Richard came from? The tree suggests a birthyear (?) of 1625 in Ireland (?). The turbulent period in history (Cromwell and the English Civil Wars) would suggest an English origin more likely. Lancashire perhaps? Does anybody know for sure?

Hello Fayles!
I am looking into the history of my wife's family in Dublin.
One ancestor was a photographer 19C to early 20C.
In the family albums are photographs of:
William Fayle (later note "fell into the river and never surfaced")
William Knott Fayle (with Mrs Fawcett, Maud and Ida)
I can email copies if you wish.
regards
Steve.
