Hawkwind
1969
Formerly known as Hawkwind Zoo the band change their name to Hawkwind after signing to Liberty Records.  The original line consisted of DAVE BROCK (vocals/guitar), MICK SLATTERY, NIK TURNER (sax/flute), TERRY OLLIS (drums), DIK MIK and JOHN HARRISON.  Later Mick Slattery would be replaced by HUW LLOYD-LANGTON (guitar/vocals) and VIV PRINCE would make the first of his guest appearances with the band on drums this year.
1970
DICK TAYLOR joins the band.  This was also the year that Hawkwind made a name for themselves by playing free gigs at the Isle of Wight festival's Canvas City.  July would see the bands first single "Hurry on Sundown/Mirror of Illusion" released followed in August by their first album the self titled "Hawkwind".  September though would see Huw Lloyd-Langton leave and John Harrison being replaced by THOMAS CRIMBLE.
1971
In May of this year Thomas Crimble is replaced by DAVE ANDERSON.  May of this year also saw DEL DETMAR (audio generator/theremin/delatron) replace Dik Mik.  June would see the band employ a dancer by the name of STACIA whom Nik Turner had met the previous year at the Isle of Wight Festival.  As well as Stacia the band also employ a poet in the form of ROBERT CALVERT (poetry).  Dave Anderson is replaced in August by IAN "LEMMY" KILMISTER (bass/vocals).  October would see the bands second album "In Search of Space" peak at 18 in the UK album charts.  Also joining the band this year is TWINK.
1972
January would see Terry Ollis replaced by SIMON KING (drums) and February would see Robert Calvert join the band officially.  August would see the release of the single "Silver Machine/Seven By Seven" peaking at 3 in the UK singles charts.  To date it has been the bands most successful single.  The album "Doremi Fasol Latido" is released November of this year peaking at 14 in the UK album charts.  Other albums the band make guest appearances on include "Greasy Truckers Party" and "Glastonbury Fayre".
1973
June would see the release of the album "Space Ritual Alive" peaking at 9 in the album charts and is to date the highest any Hawkwind album has been.  The album itself had been released in the USA the previous month and would eventually peak at 179 in the US album charts.  The single "Urban Guerilla/Brainbox Pollution" is released august of this year.  It peaks at 39 but is withdrawn from sale as it is released during a terrorist bombing campaign in England.  August would also see  Dik Mik leave, again.  Other people to leave this year include Robert Calvert but MICHAEL MOORCOCK makes the first of his guest appearances with the band.
1974
April sees SIMON HOUSE (violin) join the band officially.  Before this he had only been a guest musician.  June though would see Del Dettmar leave and emigrate to Canada.  After temporarily filling in Simon King's spot, who was unable to tour due to injuries sustained while playing soccer, ALAN POWELL joins the band.  September would see the release of the album "Hall of The Mountain Grill" which would eventually peak at 16 in the UK album charts and 110 in the US album charts.  However the American tour in September is cut short as police impound the bands equipment because of a new tax law that had been introduced.  The band return in October to fulfil the American tour.  Singles released this year include "Kings of Speed/Motorhead 1974", "Paradox/You'de Better Believe It", Psychedelic Warlords/It's so Easy" and "Sonic Attack".  Sonic attack is unusual in being a vinyl single only pressed on one side.  The EP "Psychedelic Warlords/Hall of the Mountain Grill/D-Rider/Wind of Change" is also released this year.
1975
May sees the release of the album "Warrior on The Edge of Time".  It peaks at 13 in the UK charts and 150 in the US charts.  June would see the famous incident of Lemmy being arrested by Canadian custom officials for possessing what they believe to be cocaine.  The substance turns out to be amphetamine sulphate which at the time was not an illegal substance.  PAUL RUDOLF is called in to replace Lemmy.  As Paul cannot make the gig in time Lemmy is sprung from jail to do the gig, after which he is told he is fired.  Hawkind headline the Reading Festival on Friday which also was Stacia's last gig with the band.  A few days later she marries.  The only single released this year is "Kerb Crawler/Honky Dorky".
1976

The band sign with Charisma in January.  The album "Roadhawks" is released in april and peaks at 34 in the UK charts.  August sees the release of the album "Astounding Sounds, Amazing Music".  It peaks at 33 in the UK charts.  singles to be released or re-released this year include "Back on The Streets/The Dream of Isis", Kerb Crawler/Honky Dorky" and "Silver Machine/Seven by Seven".  Alan Powell leaves this year as does Paul Rodolf.
1977

Nik Turner leaves in January.  The following month Paul Rudolf and Alan Powell are fired.  February would also see ADRIAN SHAW (bass) join the band and the release of the album "Masters of the Universe".  In June the album "Quark, Strangeness and Charm is released peaking at 30 in the UK charts.  October sees Simon House replaced by PAUL HAYES.  Other albums released by the band include "Mind Journey" and they make a guest appearance on the album "Rock On".  MARTIN GRIFFIN joins the band this year.

1978
The beginning of the year saw Dave Brock quit the band.  The band would also change it's name to The Hawklords.
1979
When Simon King joins The Hawklords in January they briefly tour as Hawkwind.  Not long after this hawkwind reform proper.  The line up this time being Dave Brock, HARVEY BAINBRIDGE(keyboards/synths/vocals), Huw Lloyd-Langton, TIM BLAKE and Simon King.  The album "P.X.R.5" is released in May and peaks at 59 in the UK charts.
1980


February sees the release of the album "The Rock file".  In July Simon King is fired at about the same time that the single "Shot Down in the Night" peaks at 59 in the UK charts.  August sees the release of the album "Live 79" which peaks at 15 in the UK charts.  As well as the release of the album "Rock Legends" September also sees GINGER BAKER join the band.  The album "Levitation" is released in November and peaks at 21 in the UK charts.  During this year Tim Blake is replaced by KEITH HALE.
1981

Martin Griffin replaces Ginger Baker in March.   The album "Sonic Attack" is released in October.  In December the album "Hawkwind Live at The bottom Line" is released.  other albums released this year include "Hawkwind at Glastonbury 1981" and the cassette "Wierd 105B - Hawkwind 1976- 77".  Keith Hale was to leave the band this year though.
1982


"Hawkwind Friends And Relations" is released in March.  The album "Church of Hawkwind" is released in and peaks at 26 in the UK album charts.  The cassettes "Wierd 106 - Hawkwind 1970-73" and "Wierd 107 - Dave Brock" are released in October.  November sees the release of the album "Choose your Masques", it peaks at 29 in the UK album charts.  Martin Griffin was to leave this year but after several guest appearances Nik Turner rejoins the band.

1983

The album "Friends and Relations II (Twice Upon A Time)" is released in January.  In February ANDY ANDERSON fills the spot vacated by Martin Griffin.  In July the album "The Text of Festival : Live 1970-2" is released.  "Zones" is released in October of this year, it peaks at 53 in the UK album charts.  The cassette "Wierd 108 - Hawkwind 1966/73" is released November of this year.  This year would also see the release of not only the album "Hawkwind - Victoria" but the release of their first official video "Live at Edinburgh Playhouse 1982"
1984
The album "Stonehenge (This is Hawkwind/Do Not Panic) is released November of this year.  This year would also see the release of the video "Night of the Hawks" and aguest appearance by the band on the video "Stonehenge Festival 1984".  ALAN DAVEY (bass/vocals) joins the band.
1985

The album "Bring Me the Head of Yuri Gagarin" is released in January.  February sees the first ever Hawkwind Convention.  It ties in with the release of the album "Friends and Relations III".  The album "Space Ritual II" in May as is the album "Utopia 1984".  "Live 70/73 is released in July.  November sees the release of the album "The Chronicles of the Black Sword", it peaks at 65 in the UK album charts.  At the same time the album "The Hawkwind Anthology Volume 1" is released.  As well as the videos "Chronicle of the Black Sword" and "Hawkon - Hawkwind Convention" this year was also to see DANNY THOMPSON join the band.
1986

The album "Angels of Death" is released in May.  "The Hawkwind Anthology Volume II" and "Hawkwind Anthology Volume III" are released in June.  The album "The Hawkwind Collection" is released in October.  November sees the release of the boxed set "The Approved History of Hawkwind" as well as the album "Independant Days, Volume II" and "Live Chronicles".  Other albums released this year include "Bristol custom Bike Show" which features guest appearances by the band.  The Video "Chaos" is released this year.

1987
The album "Out and Intake" is released in April.  November was to see the release of "British Tribal Music", "Early Daze" and the box set "The Official Picture Log Book".  The band make a guest appearance on the "Bristol Custom Bike Show" video.

1988



The album "The Xenon Codex" is released may of this year, it peaks at 79 in the UK charts.  September sees the release of the album "Spirit of the Age".  The album "Best of Hawkwind Friends and Relations " is released in November.  November also sees the release of the album "Zones/Stonehenge"."That's Original : Levitation/Live 79" is released in December.  Other album releases this year include "Live Levitation" and "The Travelers Aid Trust".
1989
The album "Ironstrike" is released in March.  April sees the release of the album "Night of the Hawk".  The video "Treworgey Tree Fayre" is released this year.  RICHARD CHADWICK (drums/percussion) joins the band.
1990
In April the album "The Best and the Rest of Hawkwind" is released.  April also sees the release of the album "Stasis - The U.A. Years" and the box set "Acid Daze".  September sees the release of the album "Space Bandits".  Other releases this year include the album "Night Riding" and the video "Live Legends".
1991

"Hawkwind : Space Rock From London" is released in September.  The album "BBC Radio One Live in Concert" is released October of this year.  The album "The Never Ending Strory of the Psychedelic Warlords" is released in november.  December sees the release of the album "Hawkwind Anthology".  Other album releases this year include "Castle Masters Collection", "Hawkwind at Glastonbury 1981" and "Palace Springs" as well as the video "Hawkwind 1979-1989".  

1992

The album "Mighty Hawkwind classics 1980-1985" is released in April.  May sees the release of the album "(The Best of) Psychedelic Warlords" and "Electric Tepee".  July sees the release of the album "California Brainstorm".  The album "Tales From Atomhenge " is released in October. Other album releases include "Live at Reading 86" and the boxed set "Three Originals".  Ayear for videos with the release of "Bournemouth Academy 1990", "Hawkwind Promos", "Hawkwind USA Tour 89/90", "M.A.G. Festival 19832 and "Sonic Attack Tour 1981".
1993
The album "Lord of Light" is released in April.  July sees the release of the album "Undisclosed files - Addendum (Live 1984 and 1989).  "It is the Business of the Future to be Dangerous" is released in November.  Other album releases this year include "Decide your Future".  SAMANTHA FOX makes a guest appearance on the mini CD "Gimme shelter".
1994
The album "Best of Hawkwind" is released in February as is the album "Dawn of Hawkwind".  In September the album "The Business trip" is released and in November the box set "25 Years On".
1995
The album "Hawkwind Friends and Relations - The Rarities" is released in March.  September sees the release of the album "Independant Days Volumes 1 & 2".  "Alien4" and "Space is Deep" are released October of this year.
1996

January sees the release of the album "Love in Space".  The album "The Emergency Broadcast System Samples" is released in February.  the only other album release this year is "Hawkwind Friends and Relations Cosmic Travellers".  CAPTAIN RIZZ (vocals) makes the first of his guest appearances with the band.
1997
The album "Les Genies du Rock : Urban Guerilla" is released in March.  October sees the albums "The Ambient Anarchists" and "Distant Horizons" released.  "The 1999 Party" is released in November.  Personel changes include Alan Davey leaving, JERRY RICHARDS (guitar/vocals/keyboards), RON TREE (bass/vocals) and CRUM joining the band.
1998
The compilation album"The Entire and Infinite Universe of Hawkwind" is released.
1999

Album releases this year include "In Your Area", "Golden Void 1969-1979", "Epoch Eclipse : 30 Year Anthology", "Rarities" and "Year 2000 : Codename Hawkwind".  Box sets released this year include "Welcome to the Future" and "Family Box set".
2000

KEITH KNIVETON (keyboards/synths) joins the band.  this year also sees JEZ HUGGIT (sax/flute/clarinet) make the first of his guest appearances.  Album releases this year include "Thrilling Hawkwind Stories", "Official Bootleg, Volume 2 : Choose Your Masques", "Complete 79 : Collectors Series, Volume 2", "The Stonehenge Collection", "Wierd Tapes No. 1", Wierd Tapes No. 2", Wierd Tapes No. 3", Wierd Tapes No. 4", Wierd Tapes No. 5" and "And Live at Glastonbury Festival 1990".  The highlight of the year though was to be the Hawkestra allnighter.
2001
Album releases so far this year have included "The Legends Collection", "Silver Machine", "Spacebrock", Wierd Tapes Volume 6", "Wierd Tapes Volume 7", "Atomhenge 76" and "Family Tree".
