In this section I shall try to cover the
basic questions which people ask before starting
training in Ju-Jitsu. If you require more
detailed information please e-mail your question
(click on contact information) and I shall
try to answer your question ASAP.
First of all your FIRST LESSON IS FREE. This is to give you
an idea of what you can learn and to
put you at ease within the class.
Everyone starts at RED belt (novice)
and
progresses through the
grades at his or her own pace, no one
is forced to take a grading if they
feel they are not ready, in fact instructors
would not put you forward for
gradings unless they are sure that
you will pass.
It takes at least
three years to attain Black Belt standard, thats training at least
twice a week, every week!
All instructors are fully qualified and
have full insurance cover. After four
weeks training all students are
expected to also take out insurance
this is not only for the students
benefit but also for everyone in the
class.
World Ju-Jitsu
Federation Ju-Jitsu is one of the first martial art's
to gain
recognition as a National Vocational Qualification and as such has
to follow certain guide lines. This
does not detract from the martial art
but adds to the saftey and practice
for all students. On reaching a high
level of achiement pupils may wish
to take the NVQ but it is not
compulsory.
Although some disipline is expected in the
Dojo (training hall) lessons are conducted
in friendly atmosphere where both children
and adults are put at their ease so that
they will enjoy what they are learning and
want to progress.

in Derbyshire a couple of years ago.
Students,parents and supporters often
get
the chance to travel to different venues
throughout the country were the students
are taught by some of the worlds top
martial
artists. Some of the past courses have
been
taught by Soke Fumon Tanaka (9th Dan)
of
Japan, Sensei Ed Stiltner (7th Dan)
of the
USA, Amir Barrer of Isreal (6th Dan),
Tom
Skarkey of Canada, Stefano Mencini
of Italy
and Mark Noble of Ireland to name but
a few.
And not forgetting our own countries
instructors
Professor Robert Clark (9th Dan) the
founder
of the WJJF, Sensei Alan Campbell (7th
Dan)
WJJF National Coach.
So come along to watch or to take part you
will be made welcome.
