Introduction by
Sensei Les Mc Garry (3rd Dan) Hebburn Ju-Jitsu Centre (which is based in Clegwell Community Centre, Mountbatten Avenue, Hebburn, Tyne and Wear) was first started more than 25 years ago by Sensei Karl Jessen (now a 6th Dan). In 1994 the centre was badly damaged by fire so no lessons could be held for nearly a year. When the centre reopened I took over the running of the club and continue to be the Sensei. Classes are held every Monday from 6.30pm
until 7.30pm and
Wednesday Evening from 6.30pm until 8.00pm Children can start from 6 years old and there is no upper age limit, so even grandparents can join in if they wish! Lots of parents who bring their children often end up joining in (once they get over their shyness) and go on to become instructors in their own right! Ju-Jitsu really is for the whole family Men and Women, girls and boy, young and old.
Our syllabus is very extensive and takes the student from beginner to Black Belt and beyond. Our students also learn Kata (also called forms) and have access to a Kobudo Syllabus (the study and practice of traditional martial art weapons) which is also taught to Black Belt standard. I have gone into more detailed information on the next page so please click the information button to learn more about Hebburn Ju-Jitsu Centre the people who train and teach, and for details of events and our top local instructors.
