Whilst Brian Souter engages in a bit of traditional politics and tries to buy up votes with his bank balance; the gay ghetto shrieks about how undemocratic it is. Irony is lost on our community

POutrag, whilst not the most effective organisation (and for many years little more than a Pointless Tachback publicity vehicle), was the last surviving remnant of a time where democracy and equality within the community were seen as being as important as democracy and liberty outside the community. Indeed there was even a time when fraternity/solidarity was treasured as a queer tenet of political faith (the lesbian and gays support the miners, for instance).

But POutRag has been killed off in a grandly announced publicity stunt by The Tachback in hisd bid for a Greater London Authority seat. (He got 1.4% of the vote).

When he left poutrag to persue this (non)-parliamentary career, angerless maison gavce him a glowing reference, which must the first time that the former marxist-turned-fuckall-leaderene had ever said anything nice about Pointless. And we are sure that Fuckall were partying into the night at the news that the main thorn in their side - POutrag - was now gone.

But vbefore we celebrate the death of the Tachback publicity machine; we should thinkcarefdully about what the collapse of POutrag means for activists in the ghetto. The ghetto is now owner and controlled, economically and politically by the gay capitalists and fuckall. Pride is privatised; there are no community owned spaces; and no democratic organisations representing our political causes. Angerless Maison is embarking on a series of meetings entitled "after rights: the shape of the inclusive society". Amazing!!! We weren't aware we had actually won any rights yet, apart from the right to be a soilder.

We can still be sacked from our jobs, evicted from our homes, turned away from a meeting or club and have our proerty and children taken off us by family and courts - but we can now die for queen and country.

Democracy is dead in the ghetto. If you wish to propose new campaigns you can write to Fuckall and ask them to consider something. You can even go on a march to demand your rights; but only if it is sanctioned by one the junta's of the ghetto. And really the only issue you should be concerned with today is section28. Which is concerned with ensuring that IF a school wants to teach about homosexuality in a non-negative way, it will be permitted to do so.

The abolition of Section 28 will Not mean that gay and lesbian lifestyles will bebtaught in school, it will not even guarantee that anything about homosexuality is mentioned. And it will not make a jot of difference to the 80% of us who are not in school anymore.

We think the Inclusive Society looks very cold indeed; like a thatcherite vision writ large: Older gays and lesbians facing a future under local auhtority care are being ignored; people with disabilities other than hiv are being ignored; single parents are ignored, people on low incomes discriminated at work are ignored; inded anyone who dosn't have a nice fat salary and an online shares portfolio is for the scrap heap. .
