the
company
Hydrae Productions was founded in April 1998 by a large group of directors,
actors and writers who met at The City Literary Institute ('The City Lit')
in Holborn, London, England. Famous City Lit graduates include Steven Berkoff
and Richard Wilson.
Hydrae performs original new drama, specialising in short plays to date.
It has staged eight successful shows at London fringe theatre venues: the
King's Head, the Hens and Chickens (both in Islington), the Union Theatre
on the South Bank, the Landor in Clapham, the Barons Court Theatre, the
Tabard in Chiswick and the Rosemary Branch (also in Islington). Each performance
consisted of 5-8 short plays, most written by Hydrae's own writers. The
majority have played to sell-out audiences.
Hydrae's members contribute as actors, writers, directors, technicians,
stage management, composers and designers. We are open to new members who
have experience in these areas and are willing to make contributions on
a voluntary basis. New members can join by attending one of the ScriptShop
meetings.
It is intended to update this site at least fortnightly, and weekly if possible.
Please check regularly for updates and late changes.
For more information, have a look at the rest of the site, or contact Steve
Tyrrell on the Hydrae phoneline 020 8400 7817 or any member of the "board"
on the contacts page.

- Tragic
Loss of Hydrae Actor Jane Fletcher

On Thur 11/Fri 12 Dec, founder Hydrae member,, Jane Fletcher,
died suddenly and unexpectedly in her sleep. Our Summer show
"Conflicts of Interest" is dedicated to Jane. Our
thoughts remain with her partner, family and closest friends.
Those of us in Hydrae
who had the privilege to know her, will always remember her
great acting talent, comic abilities, sense of humour, passion
and zest for life, but especially her support for all her
many friends and colleagues just when they needed it. She
will be so very missed.
