WHAT IS SCOUTING ABOUT?
The aim of the Scout Movement is to encourage the physical, mental, spiritual and social development of young people so that they may take a constructive place in their local, national and international community.
Scouting tries to achieve to aim of the Movement by providing an enjoyable and attractive scheme of progressive training based upon a Scout Promise and Law. The activities and training offered by Scouting are guided by adult leadership.
It is the Scout Group's policy that Scouting should be within the financial reach of every young person. The cost of providing Scouting is considerably more than the funds raised by subscriptions and the difference is achieved from fund-raising events organised by the Group Executive Committee.
The Scout Association in the U.K. is a multi-faith organisation consisting of five sections: Beaver Scouts, Cub Scouts, Scouts, Explorer Scouts and Scout Network.
The Group is like a family and is managed by the Group Scout Leader (GSL). He or she supports all Leaders and makes sure that the youngsters enjoy quality Scouting through exciting, challenging and interesting activities.
