1:12 Stockcar Construction Rules

1. Models to be a reasonable representation of a full size open wheel (Brisca F1 etc.) Stockcar
and to have a minimum ground clearance of 3mm.
2. Overall chassis length to be between 285mm and 304mm. Overall chassis width to be a
maximum 158mm.
3. Front and rear bumpers must be fitted, and have a contact surface between 9mm and 16mm,
and shall not project beyond the outer edges of the wheels. The distance between the bumper
centreline and the ground must be between 32mm and 41mm. All bumpers must be plugged
and have no sharp edges and must be constructed from a non metallic material.
4. Overriders must be fitted to front and rear bumpers. The height from the top of the bumper
to the top of the overriders must be between 19mm and 32mm at the front and must have a
maximum of 19mm at the rear.
5. Nerf bars must be fitted on the same level as the bumpers and attached to the chassis rails
with a maximum contact surface of 10mm and must not project beyond the outer edge of the
wheels.
6. Bodies and aerofoils must be made from ABS or polycarbonate, metal bodies or aerofoils
are not allowed. The windows must be clearly defined. The height of the body roof from the floor
to be between 88mm and 126mm. Aerofoils if fitted must have no sharp edges and be mounted
in a safe manner with a maximum size of centre panel to be no more than 126mm x 126mm,
and the side panels 126mm x 63mm. The roofs must be painted down to the waistline of the
body with the drivers classification colour, this includes the aerofoils if fitted.
7. Drivers national race number must be displayed on the exterior of the car, with a minimum
height of 10mm. Any colour may be used but it must be legible. Only one racing number
allowed per membership. Racing numbers will be available for renewal from the 1st January
until the 28th February each year. Any numbers not registered by that date will be allocated on
a first come, first served basis. The drivers name must be on the outside of the body.
8. The cost of the complete car excluding radio equipment and cells must not exceed £175.00.
In the case of scratch built cars the entrant must be prepared to produce replicas of the car if
so required for a price of £175.00 or less.
9. Motors must be Mabuchi RS540SH as supplied by the manufacturer and must remain unopened.
External motor bearings or fine pitch gears are not allowed.
10. Batteries to be sub C sized Ni-cads only and is 23mm diameter and 42mm length with a
maximum of 6 cells and a 7.2 volts nominal.
11. All cars will have reverse fitted and working at the beginning of each heat.
12. Electronic speed controllers are not allowed.
13. Limited slip devices and differentials are not allowed, solid rear axle only.
14. Steel whip aerials and anti roll masts are not allowed. Aerial tubes to be a maximum height
of 200mm from the track surface.
15. Tyres must have a minimum 12mm and maximum 22mm width, and maximum 50mm
diameter. Tyre additives are not allowed.

1:12 Stockcar Racing Rules

1. All National meetings will be arranged by the event organiser with pre entry forms. Entry forms
to be generally available at least one calendar month prior to the meeting. Money will be paid
on return of entry form. Entry fee to be £4.00 per junior and £5.00 per adult. A levy of £2.00 per
meeting per person will also apply. BRCA membership cards must be shown during booking in
procedure. It is advised that any club holding a BRCA sanctioned event should provide an
agenda of the meeting included with the entry form. This agenda to cover such items as:-
a) Venue, dates, and approximate times of practice, heats and finish.
b) Contact names, addresses and phone numbers.
c) Classes and costs.
d) Closing date for entries.
e) Any special requirements of the venue:- PowerPoint, lead acid batteries etc.
f) Details of any refreshments available.
g) Any other relevant information.
2. National venues to have a minimum six power points available for competitors use.
3. A sanctioned event must have the following officials:-
Race Director:- who must be present throughout the meeting.
Chief Scrutineer:- who will ensure that all cars meet the requirements of the rules.
BRCA Steward:- who has absolute authority at race meetings and is responsible for interpretations
of the rules.
4. Health and Safety.--------These rules are mandatory and the meeting may not proceed until
the BRCA steward is satisfied that these have been observed.
a) A first aid kit is to be made available for self administration. This is to be held in the
scrutineering area.
b) Fire extinguishers should be available at all venues.
5. Heats and finals to be of 5 minute duration, except in the case of a large entry when races
may be reduced to 4 minutes duration. Heats to be shuffled each round and where possible a
reasonable cross section of roof grades are to be in each heat.
6. Three rounds at each meeting to count, format is best three from four. Races will start in
graded order, commencing with white tops on the start line, yellow tops a quarter lap behind,
blue tops a further quarter lap down, etc. Finals will start in qualifying order. The race format
is eight cars in the final consisting of the top 7 plus the winner of the consolation. Minimum five,
maximum nine cars in any one race. This applies at organisational stage only. In the event of
a tie at any national meeting, it will be decided on a drivers previous lap scores, including split
times, starting with the highest then the next highest etc. If still undecided then a run off will
take place.
7. The driver who sets F.T.D. will score one point towards the national championships. Ties will
be decided on split times.
8. The National champion will have a gold roof, the British Open champion will have a silver roof,
and if the same driver wins both events, that driver will have a gold and silver striped roof. All
club champions and national winners will be graded as superstars for the following racing season.
Only novices may be graded as white tops. No driver may be down graded to white top. Any
national champion may not be graded lower than red grade within a five year period of that
drivers last championship. National grading will apply to all racers except those who have never
raced at a national before who will be allowed to start at their club grade. If they are members
of two or more clubs they shall run under their highest grading. Any driver may not, through
lack of attendance of less than one year, drop more than two grades below their last grading.
9. Only the driver involved may be allowed to question their lap scores. A parent or guardian
can represent any junior member.
10. At all national meetings the cars will be checked by the BRCA official scrutineer or deputy,
prior to racing and as required. A scrutineering box and gauge to be made available for all
BRCA meetings.
11. A suitable audible signal will start each race.
12. Start lines must be clearly visible.
13. Minimum track width is 1 metre
14. Stockcars will race anticlockwise on an oval.
15. Drivers to marshal races as instructed, failure to comply will result in loss of last race result.
16. Code of conduct:- Any committee member can bring to the drivers attention, any
misconduct by them or their pit crew and may penalise the offending driver at the discretion of
the committee. Drivers or pit crew who fail to observe the code of conduct will be disqualified
from the meeting.
17. The driver shall be responsible for the collection and fitting of the correct transponder in
their car.
18. All competitors will drive from the designated position. Failure to comply will result in the
loss of that score.
19. Only one drive motor is allowed per car.
20. If a motor is changed , it must be approved by the scrutineer. Failure to get the motor
approved will result in loss of any results taken using the changed motor.
21. No car shall be constructed so as to be dangerous to persons or cause damage to
competitors cars or to the track surface. No sharp or protruding objects are allowed on the cars.
22. Body and chassis must be securely joined whilst the car is on the track, and when initially
entered at a meeting the bodyshell must be neatly finished and complete.
23. Any bodies entered in the concourse event must be run for the duration of the event as
scrutineered.
24. Any car losing a wheel or tyre during a race must be removed from the track and have it
replaced. Failure to comply will result in immediate disqualification from that race.
25. Any repairs to vehicles must be effected off the track.
26. Radio control receivers carried in the car must only have two devices connected, ( normally
the steering servo and the speed controller ), the use of any further channels to receive
electrical signals from sensors carried in the car is prohibited.
27. External battery packs for radio transmitters are not allowed.
28. Transmitters must be switched off whilst not racing. External battery packs for radio
transmitters are not allowed
29. The committee reserves the right to amend the rules as required.
30. Any competitor found in contravention of the spirit or the fact of rules will be disqualified
from the meeting.
31. Protests:- Must be in writing and must include a £5.00 fee. This fee is refunded if the
protest is upheld. If a standard motor is protested that is stripped and found to be legal
then the value of the motor is reimbursed to its owner. The driver must prove a computer
fault, and if need be the race will be re-run.
32. At the end of the meeting, all score sheets to be given to the BRCA points compiler,
who will check all results and be responsible for the distribution of the points tables.
33. Lap scoring at all national meetings to be carried out by an automated, reliable
computer system approved by the BRCA.
34. National dates to be finalised by the 28th February.

Here are the CONSTRUCTION, and RACING RULES for MINI STOX, SALOON STOX and HOT ROD
formulas.
1:12 Ministox Construction Rules

1. All cars to be a reasonable 1/12th scale representation of a full size mini type car.
2. Any servo can be used--Bodyshells can be either ABS or polycarbonate-- Ballraces are only
allowed on the rear axle.
3. Maximum length of car including bumpers to be 292mm and the maximum width to be
165mm.
4. Front and rear bumpers made of a suitable resilient material (Not metal) may be fitted,
and must not project beyond the outer edges of the wheels and to be fitted as per rule 1.
5. Tyres can be any compound--Sleeved wheels and tyres are allowed, maximum width of tyres
as follows:- front 25.4mm, rear 31.75mm. Maximum tyre diameter to be 57mm.
6. Speed controller and battery mountings may be changed from the original.
7. Cars to use 4 cells only. Cells to be sub-C sized Ni-cads rated at 1.2 volts nominal.
8. Motors to be standard Mabuchi RS540SH, and must remain unopened and may be fitted
on either side of the chassis.
9. Steel whip aerials and rollover masts are not allowed. Aerial tubes to be a maximum height
of 200mm from the track surface.
10. Any speed controller may be used with a maximum price of £80.00. All speed controllers
must have reverse fitted and working at the start of each heat.
11. All windows to be clearly defined. The roof panel must be painted with the drivers
classification colour, and drivers name and BRCA number must be on outside of body.
12. When initially entered at a meeting the bodyshell must be neatly presented and complete.
13. Body and chassis must be securely joined at all times the car is on the track.
14. No wings or aerofoils allowed.
15. The chassis must be, minimum 210mm, maximum 220mm in length and a minimum
70mm and maximum 75mm wide, with a minimum thickness of 1.5mm. All unused screw
holes in the chassis must be filled.

1:12 Saloonstox Construction Rules

1. All cars to be 1/12th scale and be a reasonable representation of a full size four seater
saloon car.
2. Maximum width of car to be 176mm, maximum length to be 356mm.
3. All running gear to be fitted to a one piece flat plate chassis. Choice of chassis material
is free. Front and rear bumpers may be fitted to the flat plate chassis and must not project
beyond the outer edges of the wheels and to be fitted as to rule 1.
4. All cars to have the windows clearly defined. The roof panel must be painted with the
drivers classification colour. Wheel wells must be cut out as per the full size car and when
initially entered into a meeting the bodyshell must be neatly finished and complete.
5. Maximum cost of a ready to race car, (excluding radio equipment, batteries, motor, speed
controller and bodyshell) to be £70.00. Any scratch built parts, chassis etc. should be valued
at the price available to any other competitor.
6. Batteries to be sub C sized Ni-cads. Maximum 6 cells to be used, rated @ 1.2 volts per cell.
7. Motors to be any 27 turn that are nationally commercially available. External motor
bearings are not allowed. Motor endbell may be pinned.
8. Limited slip devices and differentials are not allowed. Solid rear axle only.
9. Minimum 12mm and maximum 26mm width of front tyres, rear tyres minimum 32mm,
maximum 38mm. Tyre diameter front and rear to be minimum 44mm and maximum 57mm.
Tyre additives are not allowed.
10. Drivers name to be on outside of car and clearly visible.
11. Steel whip aerials and rollover masts are not allowed.
12. Any type of speed controller may be used with a maximum price of £80.00. Reverse must
be fitted and working at the start of each race.

V12-Hotrod Construction Rules

1. The aims of the formula are to promote realistic racing of scale model cars using the V-series
chassis as the basis of the model. To promote close, fair and low cost racing by restricting the
modifications and accessories allowed. The winner of the race will have done so by skill and not
the size of his wallet.
2. Cars to be standard 1/12 Mardave V-series chassis with only the following modifications
allowed.:- Gear ratios/pinions, springs, ballraces in rear axle, servo saver and body mountings.
3. Four holes may be drilled in the chassis for mounting purposes, countersunk screws may
be used.
4. Any speed controller may be used with a maximum price £80.00, and must have reverse
fitted and working at the start of each race.
5. All aerials must be internal.
6. Motors must be standard Mabuchi RS540SH, and must remain unopened. Cleaning fluids/
additives are allowed.
7. Any tyre compound may be used with a minimum 20mm and maximum 26mm width,
and a minimum 48mm and maximum 60mm diameter.
8. Cars to use 4 cells only. Cells to be sub-C sized Ni-cads rated at 1.2 volts.
9. All cars to run well finished bodyshells of ABS or polycarbonate and the windows must be
clearly defined.
10. New products to be approved by the committee.
11. Underbody/chassis aerodynamic aids of any kind are not allowed.
