turn left on A22 at FELBRIDGE, entrance to the track is just before
the BEAVER AQUATIC CENTER.

SORA 1/10th SCALE NASCAR RACING.
THE CLASS IS DESIGNED AS A LOW COST FORMULA, ALLOWING DRIVERS OF ALL ABILITIES
TO COMPETE AT AN EVEN LEVEL. TO KEEP THE FORMULA ATTRACTIVE TO NEWCOMERS, AS WELL AS
SEASONED RACERS, CERTAIN COST RESTRICTIONS ARE IMPOSED, THEREFORE ELIMINATING "CHEQUEBOOK"
WINNING.- FOR INSTANCE, THE USE OF EXPENSIVE MOTORS, NICADS, AND SPEED CONTROLLERS ARE
NOT PERMITTED; AND TO ENSURE THE COMPETITORS REMAIN EVENLY MATCHED, THE USE OF ONE-OFF
CHASSIS OR PARTS NOT COMMERCIALLY AVAILABLE TO ALL COMPETITORS, IS ALSO FORBIDDEN.
THE CARS AND CHASSIS
THE ROLLING CHASSIS WILL HAVE A R.R.P. NOT EXCEEEDING 65 POUNDS STERLING U.K.(AS AT THE 1st
FEB.EACH YEAR).
THE ROLLING CASSIS IS TO INCLUDE WHEELS, SUSPENSION COMPONENTS, DIFF., AND MUST INCLUDE A
BODYSHELL OF A NASCAR TYPE STYLING.
BODYSHELLS CAN BE MADE OF ANY MATERIAL.
THE BODYSHELL MUST COVER ALL WHEELS AND TYRES.
STD. NASCAR TYPE WINGS ARE ONLY PERMITTED, AND MUST BE FITTED IN A SIMILAR STYLE TO FULL SIZE
NASCARS.
ANY MODIFICATIONS CARRIED OUT ON THE STANDARD KIT CHASSIS MUST BE MADE WITH HAND TOOLS.
TUNE-UP PARTS MAY BE ADDED TO THE CARS, BUT MUST BE COMMERCIALLY AVAILABLE TO ALL COMPETITORS,
MEANING NO ONE-OFFS AND NO IMPORTS.
CARS MUST BE 2WD.
CARS MUST BE REAR WHEEL DRIVE.
CARBON FIBRE IS NOT PERMITTED IN ANY PART OF THE CAR.
BALLRACES MAY BE FITTED TO ANY PART OF THE CAR.

MOTORS
ANY BRCA 27 TURN STANDARD MOTOR IS PERMITTED. NO MODIFIED OR OPENED MOTORS ARE PERMITTED.
CELLS
ALL CARS TO RUN A MAXIMUM OF 7.2 VOLTS, IN ANY CONFIGURATION. THE CELLS MUST HAVE A R.R.P.
OF 25 POUNDS STERLING U.K., OR LESS - (SEE NOTE BELOW)
SPEED CONTROLLERS
ANY SPEED CONTROLLER MAY BE USED UP TO A MAXIMUM R.R.P. OF 65 POUNDS STERLING U.K. - (SEE
NOTE BELOW).
ALL CARS MUST HAVE REVERSE WORKING AT THE START OF EACH HEAT.
SPECIAL NOTE ON SPEED CONTROLLERS AND CELLS.
TO CONTROL THE USE OF EXOTIC TYPE SPEEDOS, AND CELLS, AND TO ENABLE EASY SCRUTINEERING OF
CARS, AND MONITORING OF EQUIPMENT, S.O.R.A. HAVE INTRODUCED A "SPECIAL PURCHASE RULE".....
THE RULE WORKS AS FOLLOWS:-
ANY DRIVER CAN REQUEST TO PURCHASE FROM ANY OTHER COMPETITOR,
THE CELLS, AND/OR SPEEDO FOR THE MAXIMUM PRICE ALLOWED....i.e. 65 POUNDS FOR SPEEDOS and
25 POUNDS FOR CELLS. - THE SALE OF THE PARTS MUST TAKE PLACE DURING, AND/OR AT ANY TIME
BEFORE THE END OF THE MEETING. THE OFFER TO BUY, MUST BE MADE VIA THE SCRUTINEER. - IF
THE DRIVER REFUSES TO SELL EITHER THE CELLS, OR THE SPEEDO, IT WILL BE DEEMED THAT THE
PARTS WERE BEING USED ILLEGALLY,THEREFORE ALL POINTS SCORED AT THAT MEETING, AND A TWO
MEETING BAN WILL BE ISSUED TO THE OFFENDING DRIVER.
NOTE....ALL SPEEDOS, CELLS, AND MOTORS MUST BE COMMERCIALLY AVAILABLE IN THE U.K.
RACING RULES
ALL RACES TO BE RUN IN AN ANTI-CLOCKWISE DIRECTION.
HEATS AND FINALS TO BE RUN OVER 5 MINUTES.
A STANDING START FOR ALL CARS IN ALL RACES.
ALL DRIVERS TO DRIVE FROM THE DRIVERS ROSTRUM.- FAILURE TO DO SO, WILL RESULT IN A LOSS OF
LAPS.
DRIVERS MUST MARSHALL THE HEAT FOLLOWING THEIR RACE. - FAILURE TO DO SO, WILL RESULT IN A
LOSS OF LAPS.
CARS MAY BE RETURNED TO THE TRACK AT ANY STAGE OF THE RACE, HOWEVER NO WORK MAY BE CARRIED
OUT ON THE IN-FIELD.
DRIVERS MUST HAVE AT LEAST TWO FREQUENCIES AVAILABLE AT THE TIME OF BOOKING IN. - SPLITS
ARE PERMITTED.
AT PRESENT, DRIVERS WILL BE RACING AT THE SAME MEETINGS WHICH ARE HELD FOR NATIONAL HOT RODS,
AND STOCKCARS, SO DRIVERS WILL NEED TO ENSURE THAT THEY ARRIVE IN SUFFICIENT TIME TO PRACTICE
AND TO BOOK IN..........THE DEADLINE WILL BE 10.30 AM.
TO KEEP THIS FORMULA AS COMPETETIVE, AND AS AFFORDABLE AS POSSIBLE THE S.O.R.A. COMMITTEE
RESERVE THE RIGHT TO AMEND, OR CHANGE ANY RULE, OR TO ADD NEW RULES AT ANY POINT IN THE SEASON

A MAXIMUM OF 48 DRIVERS, WILL BE AT ANY MEETING.
CONSTRUCTION AND RACING RULES, FOR HOT RODS.- as raced at the S.O.R.A. club.
HOT ROD- CONSTRUCTION and RACING RULES.
BODYSHELL.
1.) MODELS TO BE 1/8TH SCALE, AND BE A REASONABLE REPRESENTATION OF A NHRPA
NATIONAL HOT ROD.
THE CARS MUST BE BOTH REALISTIC,AND BE A REASONABLE REPRESENTATION. WHEN INITIALLY
ENTERED IN THE MEETING, THE BODYSHELL MUST BE NEATLY FINISHED, WITH WINDOWS CUT OUT,
OR WINDOW TEMPLATES POSITIONED OVER THE FRONT AND REAR WINDSCREENS, AND ALSO OVER THE
FOUR SIDE WINDOWS. - THESE TEMPLATES MUST BE OF A DIFFERENT COLOUR TO THE BODYSHELL.
THE BODYSHELL MUST HAVE THE WHEEL APERTURES REMOVED. THE WHEEL ARCHES MUST COVER THE
TOP EDGE, LEADING EDGE AND THE TRAILING EDGE OF EACH WHEEL.
2.) BODYSHELLS TO BE OF A SMALL FAMILY SALOON/HATCHBACK ONLY. BODYSHELLS RACED IN THE
LAST 10 YEARS AT AN NHRPA MEETING ARE ELEGIBLE TO COMPETE. CARS CONFORMING TO THIS ARE:-
PEUGEOT 205/306, RENAULT CLIO, RENAULT 5, TOYOTA STARLET, TOYOTA 1000, FORD ESCORT MK.2/3/4,
FORD FIESTA MK.2/3/4, VAUXHALL NOVA, VAUXHALL CORSA, VW GOLF MK.1/2, VW CORRADO.
2A.) ALL DRIVERS MUST HAVE A RACING NUMBER UNIQUE TO EACH DRIVER. THIS NUMBER MUST BE
DISPLAYED ON BOTH SIDES OF THE CAR.- EITHER ON THE SIDE OF THE BODYSHELL, OR ON THE AEROFOIL.
THE MINIMUM SIZE OF A DRIVER'S NUMBER MUST BE 30mm, AND MUST BE OF A CONTRASTING COLOUR, OR
BACKGROUND TO THE BODYSHELL COLOUR.
2B.) THE DRIVER'S NAME MUST BE CLEARLY VISIBLE ON THE BODYSHELL.
2C.) AEROFOILS (IF FITTED), MUST BE MADE OF PLASTIC, AND BE A REASONABLE REPRESENTATION.
IF FITTED, THE BASE OF THE WING/AEROFOIL, IS TO BE A MAXIMUM OF 10 mm ABOVE THE ROOF OF THE
BODYSHELL. - WING/AEROFOIL, MUST NOT EXTEND BEYOND THE OUTER EDGES OF THE REAR WHEEL ARCHES,
AND BACK PANEL.
3.) NO EXTERNAL BUMPERS PERMITTED. - INTERNAL BUMPERS,(IF FITTED), MUST NOT BE MADE FROM STEEL.
GRADING
4.) DRIVERS GRADE MUST BE DENOTED BY A COLOURED STRIP. MIN.12mm WIDE, 100mm LONG.
IT IS THE DRIVERS RESPONSIBILITY TO ENSURE HE/SHE IS AWARE OF THEIR GRADE. DRIVERS WILL BE
ADVISED OF THEIR ROOF-GRADE WITH EACH EDITION OF "ROD-ON", THE 6 WEEKLY NEWSLETTER.
THE SCRUTINEER AT THE MEETING WILL HAVE A CURRENT GRADING LIST. - AFTER 1 (ONE) MEETINGS GRACE
A DRIVER WILL HAVE 5 LAPS DEDUCTED FROM EACH RACE ENTERED, UNTIL THE CORRECT ROOF GRADE IS SHOWN.
ALL NEW DRIVERS START AS A WHITE TOP. - DRIVERS COMING FROM OTHER OVAL BASED FORMULAS ARE YELLOW
TOPS. DRIVERS MAY ONLY BE DOWN GRADED, BY ONE GRADE PER PERIOD.

7.) CHASSIS MUST NOT EXTEND OUTSIDE THE BODYSHELL, BUT MAY BE MADE FROM ANY MATERIAL.
8A.) TWO WHELL DRIVE ONLY.
8B.) FRONT OR REAR WHEEL DRIVE ONLY.
8C.) ANY TYPE OF SUSPENSION.
8D.) DRIVE MAY BE OF GEAR, OR BELT VARIETY(INCLUDING A COMBINATION OF BOTH), BUT MUST
BE OF FIXED GEAR. - ie. NO 2 SPEED GEAR BOXES.
9.) MAX. ENGINE CAPACITY IS 3.5CC. (0.214 CU.IN.)
10.) THE ENGINE MUST BE SILENCED TO THE SATISFACTION OF RACE ORGANISERS,
BUT BELOW 80DB AT 10M.
11.) MAX. WEIGHT OF CAR, LESS FUEL, MUST NOT EXCEED 3 KG.
12.) MAX. SIZE OF FUEL TANK MUST NOT EXCEED 160cc.

RACING RULES
1.) ALL RACES TO BE RUN IN AN ANTI-CLOCKWISE DIRECTION, ON AN OVAL TRACK,WITH A FIXED
OUTER BARRIER, AND BEING APPROX. 1/8TH SCALE OF 1/4 MILE TRACK.
2.) STARTING POSITIONS:-
WHITE TOPS ON START LINE
YELLOW TOPS - 1/4 LAP BACK FROM START LINE
BLUE TOPS - 1/2 LAP BACK FROM START LINE
RED TOPS - 3/4 LAP BACK FROM START LINE
SUPERSTARS - START BEHIND RED TOPS
3.) ALL HEATS AND FINALS WILL BE CLUTCH STARTS, IN GRADED ORDER.
4.) RACE DURATION FOR HEATS WILL BE 5 MINUTES. FINALS WILL BE 6 MINUTES.
5.) NO DELIBERATE CONTACT, OR BALKING IS ALLOWED. DRIVERS MAY HAVE LAPS DEDUCTED AT THE
DISCRETION OF THE RACE ORGANISER. - DRIVERS MUST HOLD ONE LINE, WHEN BEING LAPPED BY FASTER
CARS.
6.) ALL MEETINGS TO CONSIST OF AT LEAST 4 HEATS, WITH THE LOWEST HEAT BEING DROPPED. THE TOP
4 QUALIFYING SCORES, GO THROUGH TO THE FINAL, WITH THE NEXT 6 HIGHEST INTO THE SEMI-FINAL.
THE TOP 2 DRIVERS OF THE SEMI-FINAL GO THROUGH TO THE FINAL.
7.) CARS STOPPING DURING A RACE MAY RETURNED TO THE CICUIT, PROVIDING NO OTHER CARS ARE
OBSTRUCTED IN DOING SO.
8.) NO REPAIRS MAY BE CARRIED OUT ON THE RACING SURFACE, OR INFIELD.
9.) IN THE INTERESTS OF SAFETY, NO PRACTICE IS ALLOWED WITH ANY OTHER FORMULA. ALLOCATING
PRACTICE SESSIONS IS THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE ORGANISING CLUB.
10.) NO PRACTICE ALLOWED, ONCE THE MEETING HAS STARTED, UNLESS AT THE RACE ORGANISERS DISCRETION.
11.) IN THE EVENT OF A SILENCER, OR BODYSHELL COMING DETACHED FROM THE CAR, THE CAR MUST BE
REMOVED FROM THE CIRCUIT AND REPAIRED.- FAILURE TO DO THIS WILL RESULT IN LAPS NOT BEING COUNTED.
12.) ALL DRIVERS TO DRIVE CARS FROM THE DESIGNATED DRIVERS AREA. -
FAILURE TO COMPLY, WILL RESULT
IN LAPS BEING DEDUCTED.
13.) IN THE CASE OF DRIVERS QUALIFYING ON THE SAME SCORE FOR ONE POSITION, THE HIGHEST DISCARDED SCORE
WILL COUNT. - IF ALL ELSE FAILS, A RUN-OFF OVER 15 LAPS WILL ENSUE. IF DRIVERS ARE OF DIFFERENT GRADES,
LOWEST GRADE TO COVER TO COVER 15 LAPS.
14.) CARS MAY BE SCRUTINEERED AT ANY TIME DURING A MEETING, AND THE SCRUTINEER HAS THE POWER TO EXCLUDE
A CAR UNTIL CONFORMING TO ALL RULES.
15.) A DRIVER MAY HAVE TWO (2) COMPLETE CARS SCRUTINEERED AT THE START OF EACH MEETING, AND MAY
SUBSTITUTE ANY PART OF THE CAR, OR COMPLETE CAR AT ANY POINT IN THE MEETING.
16.) IF A DRIVER WISHES TO USE HIS/HER SPARE CAR, OR THAT OF A FELLOW COMPETITOR, THEY ARE FREE TO CHANGE
AS LONG AS THE SAID CAR HAS NOT BEEN RACED AT ANY POINT IN THE MEETING.(WITH THE EXCEPTION OF USE IN PRACTICE.)
17.) IF A CAR LOSES ANY WHEEL, OR TYRE IT MUST BE REMOVED FROM THE TRACK IMMEDIATELY.
