There are some excellent  local walks, click on the 'hiker'  to see some pictures. The Miners Way is close by and encompasses the Curlews and breathtaking  Bricklieve hills. Spectacular views of lakes, hills and countryside are enhanced by the quality and number of ancient sites en-route.  If needed we will provide daily drop-off and pickup  at agreed  points, along with trail information guides and maps.  Many of these trails can also be negotiated on bicycle along quet country roads.

There are 6 Golf courses within 20 minutes of the lodge and all provide a big welcome for visiting golfers. Ballaghaderreen, Boyle,  Carrick-on-Shannon, Swinford,  Castlerea,  and Ballymote are all excellent 9 hole courses.  For the more adventurous the Championship links at Enniscrone is only 40 minutes drive away.

Shannon cruiser

Our cruiser "The Fourwinds" is available for half and full day excursions on the River Shannon and on Lough Key. This is a fantastic opportunity to see the river, lake and countryside from a different  perspective and at an affordable price. The cruiser is subject to availability, so booking is essential.

The area is steeped in tradition and many festivals are held throughout the Summer. Gurteen only 5 miles away is famous for its traditional music and is home to the "Coleman Heritiage Center".

Ballaghderreen, 5 miles in the other direction holds a week long Traditional Irish music & dance Summer  school in July, in honour of Dr. Douglas Hyde, Irelands first President who was a native of this area.   (July 2nd - 8th)

Country and Western fans are also catered for as Boyle hosts the "Boyle  Country & Western carnival, also in July. This carnival is held in conjunction with horse & pony racing in Lough Key forest park. (July 7th - 16th).
