Lung River

Did you know that Lough Key, only 20 minutes away, currently holds the Irish specimen Pike record at 39lbs 3ozs, and  the Lung river regularly gives up pike of over 20lbs. In fact  the reigning British Isles Pike King  won the Rapala title by catching a lot of his big  fish  (105 over 20lbs) in lough Gara. Lough Gara, Lough Key and the Lung river valley are also renowned for their excellent stocks of  Bream, Roach, Rudd, Hybrids, Perch, Tench, and Eel.   These local waters are very accessable to anglers  so  long walks with heavy gear is not a neccessity.

Some excellent sites have direct access for cars and easy flat ground if you are looking to cover a larger area with more opportunities.Of course in addition to riverside fishing we can  also arrange open boats for those adventerous enough to try the lough and if you want to go for that all Ireland record pike, then our Lough Key based cruiser   is available with an open boat at very reasonable daily rates. There are lots of excellent sites with information on angling in this area, click on the links below or Angling Links to see more.
