TEXT FROM MGS2: SONS OF LIBERTY - INCLUDING
GAME DESIGNER HIDEO KOJIMA
Hideo Kojima
(planning, script, director, producer)
Born on August 24, 1963 in Setagaya,
Tokyo. Moved to Kobe at the age of 3 and grew up there. Started shooting
8mm movies during his middle school days and also started writing stories.
Joined Konami in 1986 as a game planner. He made his powerful debut in
1987 with Metal Gear (MSX) as the director. The game impressed a lot of
players with the innovative concept and dramatic script and effects along
with a detailed world setting, all of which was totally new in an action
game. Since then, he continued to introduce games that proved that "creators'
tastes" can be included in this kind of entertainment. In 1998 he releases
Metal Gear Solid (PlayStation) -- a milestone action game that will leave
its name in game history. It was very well received not only in Japan but
in the US and all over the world. Currently, while he works at the frontline
of the development of MGS2, he continues to be active as the producer of
Konami Computer Entertainment Japan's original title "ZONE OF THE ENDERS".
He is also famous as one of the greatest movie lovers in the game industry,
writing and commenting professionally as a movie critic.

"When Yoji Shinkawa came to the job
interview with his works, I was like 'Here's the guy!', says Hideo Kojima.
Born on December 25, 1971 in Hiroshima. Joined Konami in 1994 as his works
were approved by Director Kojima. The 3D model he created for his interview
remarkably given the highest "S" ranking. While he worked as a designer
for "POLICENAUTS PRIVATE COLLECTION" (1996), he joined the "Metal Gear
Solid" (1998) project as the character and mechanical designer. Loves his
Pentel brush pen. His drawing style creates a unique world and atmosphere
with the harmony of analog components and CG. The artbook "THE ART OF METAL
GEAR SOLID (Konami)" released in 1999 transcends conventional "game books"
in quality and has been well received by those of various fields. In MGS2,
he is the character and mechanical designer as well as the graphics supervisor
as in MGS1. How his unique world of his style is going to expand with the
given increase in expression capabilities of the new hardware is of great
expectations by all. He is making maximum use of his capabilities as the
3D artist for "ZONE OF THE ENDERS" as the mechanical designer.
