Thorpe St Andrew is a growing parish (population approaching 13,000) on the eastern edge of Norwich, Norfolk, England. The present parish church dates from 1866 - its spire was rebuilt in 1956 after damage in WWII. Within the grounds are the tower & some masonry from the former thatched building. This picture appears by kind permission of the artist, Godfrey Arnison, who lives in Thorpe. The daughter Church of the Good Shepherd (1951) replaced a previous wooden building. In the evening of Thursday, October 4th, 2001, we celebrated the fiftieth anniversary of this church; the Bishop of Norwich joined us for the festivities. I was treasurer of the Parochial Church Council for 10 years, 1995-2004 .
