September 1st, 2001
Civic Hall, Stratford-Upon-Avon, Warwickshire
Attendance: 2,950
TV rating: 2.4
(The jam-packed, jacked-up crowd inside the Civic Hall in Stratford-Upon-Avon are on their feet as the arena is lit up with flashing lights and small bursts of pyrotechnics, signalling that Saturday Fight Night is live on air! Your commentary team at ringside is Chris Freeman and Adam Wheeler.)
Chris Freeman: Tonight, just 24 hours away from Back 2 Skool, championships will be decided! This is NWA-UK Saturday Fight Night!
(The camera pans around the cheering fans.)
CF: Our great fans here in Stratford-Upon-Avon are
ready and what a main event we have for you this evening. Tonight, “The Iceman”
Ben Winter teams with World Champion Hiro Kakuhari to face the duo of NWA King
of the Ring Robbie Anthony and Byson…inside a fifteen foot high steel cage!!!
AW: What a match that is gonna be, Freeman! Winter
is set to face Anthony tomorrow night in a Stretcher Match and Byson will
challenge Kakuhari for the World Title, but tonight we get a preview of both
those matches inside the most unforgiving, brutal, barbaric structure in
Hammerlock, the steel cage!
CF: It’s gonna be something else, that’s for sure.
Also tonight, in a match that is certainly not without an air of controversy,
Jason Prentice defends his World Television Championship against a mysterious
newcomer to Hammerlock, a luchador by the name of El Falso.
AW: Yet again Prentice proves that he is a
fighting champion, putting his gold on the line just 24 hours before he is set
to defend it against Midnight Blue at Back 2 Skool. But let me tell you
something Freeman, not me, not anybody knows anything about El Falso. Who is
he? Where did he come from? I hope Prentice knows what he’s doing and doesn’t
get a rude awakening from this unknown luchador this evening.
(“Killing Time” by (hed) Planet Earth kicks in over the
arena sound system, signalling the arrival of the NWA-UK World Tag Team
Champions Society Bites.)
CF: Well, on the subject of titles, Kevin Bradley
and Chaz Harris are about to defend theirs, the World Tag Team Titles, against
the New Young Lions, Kyle Coulbourne and Brandon Alvarez.
AW: The two young punks that Bradley and Harris
have beaten in singles contests over the past weeks…
CF: …and humiliated in the process…
AW: That’s true, but they not only humiliated The
New Young Lions, they humiliated their opponents tomorrow night at Back 2
Skool, Florida Championship Wrestling’s Jeff Jarrett and Chris Jericho, by
using each of their finishing manoeuvres to beat Alvarez and Coulbourne.
CF: That just exemplifies the disrespectful
attitude of our Tag Team Champions, who think that tomorrow night’s match will
be a walk in the park for them. It won’t be, and the same applies to tonight’s
title defence against these youngsters.
Society Bites defeated The New Young Lions when
Bradley pinned Coulbourne
with the
Scissor Kick in 0:15:54.
Rating: ** 3/4
(Society Bites retained the NWA-UK World Tag
Team Titles.)
CF: The New Young Lions took it to the champs…
AW: …but inevitably came up short. That’s what you
were gonna say, wasn’t it Freeman?
CF: No, I…
AW: Okay, you were gonna say that they inevitably
came up short, just like Jarrett and Jericho are tomorrow night at Back 2
Skool.
Post-match:
(Society Bites continue to pummel the New Young
Lions while Big Poppa Pete cheers them on. Bradley locks Alvarez in the Walls
of Jericho and Harris traps Coulbourne in a figure-four leglock.)
CF: Look at this!
AW: They do those moves better than Jericho and
Jarrett!
CF: Well, they’d better hope that they don’t taste
those moves tomorrow night, or they’ll be two-time FORMER World Tag Team
Champions.
AW: They’re untouchable, Freeman. No-one in
Hammerlock deserves to be in the same ring as them, and the same applies to the
entire National Wrestling Alliance!
CF: (sighs) Ladies and gentlemen, the feud between
Migraine and The Aristocrats, in particular their butler Jeeves, has been well
documented. Jeeves has cost Migraine matches against Fharquar and Potemkin, and
then after both matches Jeeves nailed Migraine with his incredible Somersault
Senton, the second time he blasted Migraine through a table.
AW: Well tonight he gets the chance to do that
again, because Jeeves is about to do battle with Migraine and it’s a Table
Match. You must put your opponent through a table for the victory.
CF: Migraine wants retribution. Let’s go to the
ring!
Table Match:
Migraine defeated Jeeves by putting him through
a table in 0:00:22.
Rating: *
CF: Whoa! That didn’t take long!
AW: They aren’t letting this stand, are they?! Migraine didn’t put Jeeves through the table, Jeeves put HIMSELF through the damn table! That’s a disgraceful decision!
CF: Hey, Jeeves went through a table, so he loses.
Post-match:
(The Aristocrats come down to ringside and pull
Jeeves out of the table wreckage. Fharquar and Potemkin help their butler to
his feet, and then Fharquar slaps him!)
CF: Oh dear!
(Potemkin follows suit, slapping Jeeves hard
across the face. The crowd rally behind the artist formerly known as Tiny
Roscoe.)
CF: What are Fharquar and Potemkin thinking?!
(Jeeves looks as if he is about to explode, but
then apologises feverishly to the snobbish pair. The crowd voice their
disapproval.)
CF: I don’t know what these upper class snobs have
done to Roscoe, but I hate to see these public displays of degradation.
AW: He knows his role Freeman, that’s all.
Fharquar and Potemkin are better than Jeeves, so he should work for them!
CF: Up next here on Hammerlock, the unlikely
triumvirate of Valkyrie and The Baldies will battle Luke Champion and the
Hammersmith Hard Men in a six person No Holds Barred Match.
AW: This is the prelude to two brutal matches that
we’ll see at Back 2 Skool, when Champion faces Valkyrie and The Baldies’ and
The Hammersmith Hard Men’s paths cross in a StreetFight. Right now, we’re in for
a small taster of what we’ll see in abundance at Back 2 School.
No Holds Barred Match:
The Baldies and Valkyrie defeated Hammersmith
Hard Men and Luke Champion when
Valkyrie pinned Phillips with the Fate's
Thunderclap in 0:18:19.
Rating: ** 3/4
CF: Valkyrie picks up the win for her team with Fate’s Thunderclap!
AW: Great performance there from the Female
Fighting Phenom. She looks ready to face Luke Champion tomorrow night.
CF: And Rick Knight not showing any effects of the
injury suffered after Angel stapled him in the eye a few weeks ago.
AW: Believe me Freeman, he and Phillips will have
a hell of a lot more injuries to worry about after the StreetFight with The
Baldies at Back 2 Skool!
CF: Scheduled up next is this very strange
Television Championship Match, Jason Prentice puts his gold on the line against
an unknown quantity, the luchador El Falso.
AW: I give Prentice all the credit in the world
here. He’s defending his title against someone that nobody knows anything
about. That takes great courage, especially with his match with Midnight Blue
right around the corner.
CF: He’ll defend the TV Title against Midnight
Blue tomorrow night, who will be out for revenge after Prentice used Serenity
as a shield from Blue’s superkick, which caused Serenity to get knocked
unconscious.
AW: She had no business getting in the ring.
CF: Can El Falso cause an upset? Let’s find out.
Jason Prentice pinned El Falso after a Northern
Lights suplex in 0:07:53.
Rating: *** 1/2
(Jason Prentice retained the NWA-UK World
Television Title.)
AW: Prentice retains the gold! Prentice is going Back 2 Skool!
CF: I still think that there is something strangely
familiar about El Falso…
Post-match:
(Muerte de Antedicho sprints down to the ring and
confronts El Falso.)
CF: Hmm, perhaps these guys know each other.
(Suddenly, Prentice nails Antedicho in the back of
the head with his TV Title belt. Prentice and El Falso start to team up and
stomp away at the Spanish superstar’s fallen body.)
AW: Hey, maybe it’s Prentice and El Falso that
know each other!
(Falso then unmasks, revealing Devon Ferrari!)
CF: I knew it!
AW: That’s brilliant!
CF: Can Ferrari demean Antedicho any more?!
(Ferrari shakes hands with Prentice and then tells
the crowd he’s going to pull Antedicho’s mask off. Prentice restrains the
high-flyer while Ferrari unlaces the back of Antedicho’s mask.)
CF: No, they can’t do this!
AW: Well, they’re doing it!
(All of a sudden, Midnight Blue hits the ring in
the nick of time, wielding a steel chair!
Ferrari and Prentice quickly bail out. The crowd pop big time for the
number one contender to the TV Title.)
CF: Thank goodness Midnight Blue came out here and
intervened when he did!
AW: Yeah, otherwise we may have had to look at
Antedicho’s face!
(Blue and Prentice have a verbal altercation as
the TV champ backs up the ramp. Midnight Blue checks on the condition of
Antedicho, who is busy readjusting his mask.)
CF: Those are two matches to look forward to tomorrow night. “Picture Perfect” Jason Prentice defends his World Television Championship against Midnight Blue and Devon Ferrari clashes with Muerte de Antedicho in a Mexican Death Match. Speaking of matches to look forward to, Byson and Robbie Anthony are about to face Ben Winter and World Champion Hiro Kakuhari in a Cage Match.
AW: This is gonna be violent. This is gonna be bloody. This will not be for the faint-hearted or the squeamish. Get ready for a war.
CF: Let the waiting go on no longer. The only way to win is for one team winner to escape the cage, but who will it be?
Cage Match:
Ben Winter and Hiro Kakuhari defeated Byson and
Robbie Anthony
by
escaping the cage in 0:20:21.
Rating: ** 1/4
CF: Winter is out the door! He and Kakuhari win
it!!!
AW: He was running! He was running away from
Anthony yet again!
CF: What the hell are you talking about?!
Post-match:
(Robbie Anthony glares at The Iceman through the
steel bars and then dares him to get back inside the cage. Suddenly, Bryan
Campbell runs down to ringside and cracks Winter across the back of the head
with a steel chair!)
CF: Bryan Campbell! Where the hell did he come
from?!
AW: Did you hear that chair shot?!
(Anthony holds Winter’s head in place and Campbell
slams the cage door shut, crushing The Iceman’s head between the door and the
cage. Winter collapses in an unconscious slump on the ringside mats.)
AW: The Iceman is out cold! (laughs)
(Campbell produces a chain and padlock from his
pocket and The Blue Chipper locks the cage door. Robbie Anthony and Byson then
start to go to work on World Champion Hiro Kakuhari, brutally double-teaming
him.)
CF: Byson and Anthony are beating the living crap
out of Kakuhari, and nobody can stop them thanks to that miserable SOB Bryan
Campbell!
(Anthony and Byson take turns in throwing Kakuhari
into the cage several times. The King then whips Kakuhari into a vicious Gore
from Byson. The crowd are jeering relentlessly.)
AW: It’s obvious to me that Byson and Anthony are
attempting to seriously injure Kakuhari ahead of Back 2 Skool! If this
continues, there’s no doubt that Byson will be leaving Manchester with the title
around his waist.
(Bryan Campbell takes the steel chair and throws
it over the top of the cage and into the ring. He notices that Winter is
beginning to come-to and he scarpers from the ringside area.)
CF: What business did Campbell have out here?!
AW: Kakuhari disrespected him last week, after all
The Blue Chipper had done for him! Well, paybacks are hell, Kakuhari!
(Robbie Anthony sets up the chair and drills
Kakuhari onto the steel with the Detonation. Byson follows that by spiking the
World Champion on the chair with the Bull Rutt.)
CF: There’s going to be nothing left of Kakuhari!
AW: The World Title match is going to be academic
tomorrow night at Back 2 Skool!
(The show closes with Ben Winter desperately trying
to get back into the cage to come to the aid of Kakuhari, but each time he
climbs up either Byson or Robbie Anthony knock him off the side of cage with
stiff chair shot after chair shot.)
