The news all Rick Astley fans thought they would never hear again, Rick is to re-release "Never Gonna Give You Up" in the UK on 15th March 1999! Rick re-signed to PWL on June 1st 1998 after talks with Pete Waterman who helped him reach fame with "Never Gonna Give You Up" in 1987. Currently PWL are trying to deny that Rick has been recording but other PWL stars Steps have mentioned they've seen him around the studios. It is my guess that there is a strict stratedy plan and that is to come out with a bang, therefore any publicity before the release should be avoided. There is talk about a follow up album but rumour has it that they are still undecided on the content. They say Pete Waterman wants to release a "Greatest Hits" album with the idea to getting Rick known again and then follow that with new material. Rick wants just new material. So could it be that there will be a compromise with old and new tunes? I can see where Pete Waterman might be coming from but lets remember he has vested interest in the old tunes as he co-wrote them so in effect, he would be doubling his money. We know that his railway investments have swallowed a lot of his estimated 60million fortune.
