The Norwegian Church Arts Centre is a charitable organisation, which provides exhibition space and a beautiful setting for concerts. It also provides lecture facilities and a special ambiance for conferences. The church itself was closed in 1974. A decade later, in 1987, it was dismantled and stored to be rebuilt at a later time in its present location. It became an Arts Centre and was not reconsecrated. However, the present day uses of the building recreate the tranquil, relaxed and welcoming chararcter of the former church. The athmosphere of the building reflects the past use of the church as a cultural centre and meeting place.
The Arts Centre now offers a year-round programme of arts events featuring a wide range of concerts, storytelling, literary events, poetry and exhibitions. The Centre is one of the most distinctive buildings in Cardiff and a popular meeting place on the waterfront. Within just a few minutes walk one can see historic landmarks, ships, parks, sculptures and all the major developments of Cardiff Bay. The Centre is wheelchair accessible to the ground floor and is available for private hire for seminars and social functions. A Norwegian-style cafe serves a tempting selection of delicious cakes, savoury snacks and refreshments.
